Randy November 07, 2021 for Model Number KEMS307DBS6 Oven is heating but not to preheat temperatures. I set preheat to 200 degrees. The oven heated and the preheat timer for 200 degrees sounded. An oven thermometer confirmed temperature at 200 degrees. I set the preheat temperature to 350 degrees and the timer sounded indicating 350 degrees. However, the oven thermometer indicated only 250 degrees. I suspect either the element or the thermometer is bad. Would you agree? I think the element part number for my model (KEMS307DBS6) is WPW10207400.
1 Answer Randy, as the heating element is heating the oven, the oven sensor WP4451665 would need to be tested for resistance. At room temperature, it should measure 1080 Ohms and when heated with a hairdryer, it should increase 2 Ohms for every degree of temperature it rises. If the sensor tests good, the failure would likely be a control 4448869 failure. Unfortunately, the control has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Read More...
Paul September 06, 2021 for Model Number GBD309PVS00 The upper oven is not cooking evenly. I checked the thermistor in the back of the oven and it checks good with an ohms reading of 1065. I then pulled the bake/broil element and the inner element has 33.5 ohms and the outer element reads 55.5 ohms. I can’t find any information for the proper ohm readings for this. Is the bake/broil element within spec or do I need to replace it? Thank you in advance.
1 Answer Paul, The elements seem to be within specs and if the oven sensor is also then the issue would be the board. Read More...
Gale May 06, 2017 for Model Number KEMC378KBL03 KitchenAid Bult-In Electric Convection Oven broiler element sizzed and burned out while preheating. Looks like I need to replace with part #WPW10207400. Also found out the upper microwave oven is not heating. What else will I need to make repair?
1 Answer Gale, The broil element WPW10207400 is the correct part for your unit. For the microwave you will want to check the magnetron to make sure that it is good which should have a resistance of less than 1 ohm of resistance. Read More...
Jenny October 25, 2016 for Model Number GBS309PVS03 Whirlpool Gold Accubake oven age 4 1/2 yrs Broiler element sizzled and burned out while preheating. Element replaced using part # WPW10207400. I see your part number for this appliance differs. The replacement element is not working and we have removed and tested continuity which is good. I think the flash fire might have impacted another part. Could you advise 1) do I have the correct boiler replacement part and 2) what I might check next. Thanks, J
1 Answer Hello Jenny. It sounds like the control board has failed when the element burnt out. You will need to replace WPW10438709 on the unit. Test the thermal fuse on the back of the unit first before replacing the board in the unit. Read More...
Bob W. October 13, 2014 for Model Number KEBC177KSS0 We ran the self clean cycle, but when we tried to run a broil or bake cycle the next day, there was no heat. The oven panel indicates when each cycle is on and the temp is shown as "LO". I see that you answered for Model # KEBC107KSSO that the relays on the control board have failed. Is that the same answer also for Model Number KEBC177KSS0? Or can I replace the Element? Help! Bob
1 Answer Bob, It's not likely to be either the element or the control. It's more likely to be the thermal fuse WP9759242 on the back of the oven. If the oven gets too hot, the fuse opens and removes the L2 power leg (120 VAC) from the elements and there will be no heat. This occurs quite a bit on Whirlpool built products. When you replace the fuse, you also need to make sure the oven doors close and seal properly, and that the cooling fan operates properly and moves the air in the control panel area. Read More...
Gary August 22, 2014 for Model Number KEBC107KSS0 We just ran the Self Clean cycle and all was good. When we tried to run a bake cycle the next day, there was no heat. The coil stayed cool. We then tried the broiler cycle and it too stayed cool. The oven panel indicates when each cycle is on and the temp is shown as "LO". Which is normal when it's starting up. There are no error codes. Has the self clean cycle done the elements in? Both of them?? The unit is 12 years old and has always run well. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Gary! More than likely the relays on the control board have failed, unfortunately the manufacturer discontinued the board and we no longer have any left in stock. The part number was 4456033, thanks! Read More...
Bill June 22, 2012 for Model Number kebs277dbl9 I think my heating element is bad on the top oven. Only the outside loop on the coil makes heat. The inside stays cool and the oven take a long time to heat up - twice as long as the bottom oven. Is this a bad heating element?
1 Answer Bill, You'll need to remove the broil element and check the resistance of the inner element (45 to 55 ohms resistance) with a multi meter. If the element checks proper WPW10207400, the issue would be in the wiring or the control board relay 4453661 not supplying power to the inner element. We're sending you some additional information with the relay cycle charts so you can check and verify the issue. Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Hello Vinnie. You can install this part yourself. You will need to disconnect the power going to the unit, and remove the screws holding the element in place. Once the screws are removed, you will pull out the element and disconnect the wires. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps. Read More...
