The Fuse Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This kit includes a thermal fuse and necessary installation components. The fuse is a safety device that protects the dishwasher from overheating by cutting off electrical power if the temperature gets too high.

You should replace the fuse if it becomes defective. Causes of a bad fuse can include electrical surges, overheating, or age-related wear and tear, all of which can compromise the fuse's ability to function properly.

Symptoms of a bad dishwasher fuse include:

  • Dishwasher not starting
  • Intermittent operation or sudden shutdowns during cycles
  • No power to the control panel
  • Error codes indicating a thermal issue

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Fuse Kit (Part Number: OEM16937736)

Glenn for Model Number 665.13963K014

Hi, our 9-year-old Kenmore Elite dishwasher stopped/went completely dead (no lights at control panel) mid-cycle yesterday. Checked breakers and nothing tripped, but tripped and re-set them anyway to see if it would "wake" the dishwasher. Prior to this happening, we had only been using the 1-Hour Wash cycle for a ~year because all other cycles resulted in stops due to over-sudsing (we had made no change with regards to the detergent pods we'd been using for years), so something was wrong then, whether it was related to the current total failure or not. Any idea what I should test or replace first?

Glenn, with the power supply turned off, it would be recommended that the supply wire is checked to ensure it is securely connected to the dishwasher wires as it is easy for them to loosen over time if there was an incomplete attachment at the beginning. If they are securely attached, the next step would be to test the thermal fuse W10402110 for continuity. If there is not continuity, it has failed and would need to be replaced. If it has continuity, and there are no broken wires, then the main control WPW10195344 has likely failed if the control panel does not have any signs of being damaged.

Hello Tfixit, the thermal fuse kit should be part W10402110. When replacing this kit all parts of the kit need to be replaced each time it trips as per the manufacturer. Also, this is a thermal fuse, it only trips when there is excessive heat near it. The tub heater will not trip it. If the kit is correctly installed and it trips again check the control board components for overheating also the main wire harness terminals where it connects to the board, those parts would need to be replaced it that is where the overheat problem is showing.

Richard, before you replace the thermal fuse kit W10402110 there are a couple of things to check . Remove power to the dishwasher, access the power connections in the junction box on the dishwasher front frame and check the wires for discoloration or signs of arcing. reattach the wires and make sure the wire nuts are on good and tight. then check the heater element and wires, then check the high limit thermostat WPW10195091 for circuit and wiring connections. repair or replace the parts as necessary and install the thermal fuse kit according to the instructions.

Hello Singh. You need to pull out the unit and remove the power and the back panel on the unit. Then you can access the screws securing the bake element and remove the element on the unit.
