Larry for Model Number AFD2535FES

I have the Amana french door refrigerator with inside water spout. The water flow has been decreasing over the last 6 months or so. I originally assumed it was because I need a new filter but after the filter replacement it did not get any better. I have disconnected the water source and checked hosing the best I can but have not found any problems. The was flow is fast for about a 1/2 a second then is very slow. It take about 35 seconds to fill a 16oz bottle. I have read the most likely cause is the water head or filter installation, is this true? I have double and triple check to make sure the filter was twisted all the way on. It also seems that once I release the water button water continues to flow into the filter for 1/2 a second. If the filter is removed and water dumped out the flow is good until all the air is out of the line then it slows again. Any help you can give would be great. Thanks,

Hello Larry, If you have your bypass plug you can install it and check to see how the water flow is. If the water flow is good with bypass in then it is the filter that would be causing problem. If the flow is still bad then you would need a new filter head assembly. This issue does sound like the filter head assembly WP67004106 causing the issue.

Hello Ernie, You may want to check to make sure that your water filter is being twisted all the way in. If the filter is not completely in place it will cause the pulsating. Since you put the bypass in and it worked fine this would be the most likely cause.

Hello Carrie! Have you changed the water filter recently? If so, air can be trapped in the water line which can cause a slow drip. You can purge the wate rline by dispensing water for at least a minute continuously. If the problem still occurs you more than likely have a failing water valve. We will need your model number to verify the correct valve replacement part number. Thanks!

Hello Griff, This sounds like the water inlet valve but it could also be attributed to low water pressure or sticking contacts in the ice maker motor module.

Brad for Model Number Maytag PSD267LHES Refigerator

Trying to install a new water filter head but I cannot feed the tube with the metal fitting, which I believe is a compression fitting, through the hole in the foam insulation in the back of the fridge. Do I cut the tube from the fitting, feed the tube through, and then do the reverse process for the new fitting and reattach the tube into the fitting, or do I have to remove the foam piece which would mean removing the entire back panel of the fridge?

1 Answer

Hello Brad. 1. Remove filter cover opening cover and pulling rear left side of cover to the left to release cover from holding pin. 2. Filter head can be released from holding bracket by opening tabs on left side filter head and pulling downward and to your left to release filter head. 3. Tubing needs to be disconnected from water valves in the machine compartment. 4. After tubing is loose from water valves pull the filter head and tubing out the front of unit. 5. Reverse procedure to reassemble.

Hello Jim! Both parts are the water filter head w/ tubing. There is a series change within the model that effects the filter head. We will need your appliance serial number to verify which one to use on your model. If you would like to repost with your model and serial number we will be glad to verify the correct part number. Thanks!

Chris for Model Number afd2535deb

I have a french door amana with water inside door. when you use the water you will get a a fast burst of water then you can here the pump kick on and low water pressure. The ice maker works fine but no water pressure for drinking water. when you put the bypass plug in with filter removed we get high water pressure constent no low water. I replaced the filter to see if it was clogged and did not fix my problem. I was checking to see if it was the dual valve assembly or head water filter kit. tks
