Hello Roy, You will need to turn the water and power off to the refrigerator, remove the grille and the water lines at the John Guess fittings. Remove two screws at the front bottom of the housing. Some unit have a metal rod that will also have to be removed. Pull the housing out and install the new one in the reverse order.

Joe, To replace this filter housing you will want to pull the unit out and turn the water supply off. Disconnect the water lines from the filter that go to the water valve. Where the lines go into the cabinet you will then remove that cover that is there. Go to the front of the unit and open the door of the refrigertator. Take the filter out and slide the cover to one side to release it from the filter housing and then the other way to finish removing. Pull the filter head from the clips and then slide the entire assembly out. Once you have it out then install the new one in reverse.

Diane for Model Number ED5VHEXVB00

Whirlpool refrigerator: The water dispensing is very low, therefore ice cubes are very thin. I changed the water filter and still the same problem. After watching a video I decided to change the water inlet valve and didn't solve the problem. According to the user manual you can use your refrigerator without the filter, I tried that as well and it made it worse. Water pressure coming from the dispenser works great but water is coming out of the refrigerator, filling up the tray and making puddles of water under refrigerator and areas of the kitchen.

Diane, With the water coming out very slow and the ice being thin, the valve and filter having been changed, this issue will be caused by a faulty filter housing which is part number WPW10121138.

Earl, To remove the filter head you will need to first pull the unit out and shut the water off. Disconnet the tubing that is running down the back of the unit from the refrigerator side. You will then go into the refrigerator compartment and drop down the filter cover and remove off the pegs. Then you will remove a couple of screws that are holding in the filter head. Remove the stryofoam block in the back that goes between the water lines and then pull out the filter head. Reinstall in reverse.

Paul, With the unit working with the bypass plug in place then the issue would either be a bad filter or a filter that is not all the way in place.
