My ice maker stopped making ice After watching a few videos, I kind of figured the thermostat went out. I could force a harvest, if I jumper T to H, or unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in, and it worked. It just will not auto cycle. So I ordered a new ice mold assembly (WPW10190981) with a new thermostat, control module, and ice mold tray. Now the ice maker only make ice if; I jumper T to H, or unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in, Still. Any suggestions?

Hello Charles, check the temp in the ice maker area, it has to be 10 deg or colder, also check the freezer temp as that is where the cold air for the ice maker comes from, and that the fan motor behind the ice maker is working.

The 1st of June the GFCI tripped after visual inspection I noticed ice build up between the air baffle & the ice tray so I turned ice switch off which fixed the ground fault issue.after I removed the unit I noticed there was A few wires in the ice build up after I thawed, cleaned & reinstalled it. The full ice arm did stuck in the up position but stopped after manually lowering it a few times. The ice maker worked fine for several weeks. Recently it began producing excess ice causing a ice dam and cubes sticking together and binding up the push coil. Now it has repeated the original problem of ice build up in between ice tray & the air baffle causing the breaker to trip. I am reluctantly considering replacing the whole unit only because of the multiple failure issues but I have to save any money I can by not buying parts I don’t need. So if I’ve explained the problem clear enough your Professional knowledge could help possibly save some money Please & Thank you.

Larry, It does sound like the icemaker is overflowing and would be caused by a faulty icemaker assembly.

Hello, I when out to the kitchen one morning this week to find water all over the floor. At some point water had been dripping from the front of the ice maker into the fridge, out through the door , and all over the floor. I cleaned up, switched off the ice maker for the day came back to turn the switch on the ice maker on. No ice. Today I removed the entire ice maker unit and inspected it. No frozen tubes or ice build up - but I did thaw and clean out the ice that was in the maker. I also looked behind the motor plate (in front) for corrosion. All connections look clean. I've reinstalled in the fridge and waiting to see what happens. Based on my description does it sound like the water valve is the problem of the ice maker unit? The water dispenser is working as expected. Please let me know. Thanks!!

Hello Andy, yes, it does sound as if the ice maker fill side of the double water valve is faulty/leaking, the valve is part 67006322

I just purchased the icemaker assembly to and have it almost back together. When I went to plug back in the JUMPER PLUG, the new part is missing a hole for the plug to go in. My plug has a stem that goes into a hole and and an insert that goes into the "H" hole. The new assembly does not have that hole for the stem to fit into allowing the plug to plug into the correct spot. I'm not sure if that plastic stem has any function other than stabilizing the plug so I'm not sure if I should break it off or if it is necessary to the function of the icemaker.

David, For this icemaker the original wiring harness would need to be used to install which should have all the necessary connections.

Hello Richard. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Wayne Gibson for Model Number MF12269VEM3 Whirlpool Refr.

The freezer is at the bottom of this Frig and it has one big door but at the top is the frig with two doors so I'm sure you know which frig this is. What is happening is in the freezer we are getting a huge block of ice forming in the freezer part. Its kind of at the sides and bottom. You break this ice sheet loose and pull it out and its huge. First where is the water coming from to make this sheet and what is wrong in the freezer to allow this. You can email me back. If its some kind of seal that gone out I really need to order it as I am ordering a new ice maker for this frig as it went out a week ago but this huge ice sheet has been forming over a year now and I would like to fix it. Water also gets in the floor under frig and at the front of the frig in the floor. Thank you. Wayne Gibson

1 Answer

Wayne, This issue is being caused by a drain tube that is freezing. You will need to get into the freezer and remove the rear wall. Once this is done clean all the ice from the drain trough and flush with hot water and then install the drain tube W10619951 in place of the current one on the unit.

Hello Al. You insert a screw driver into the slot and make sure the screw is removed if there is one and release that cover on the left. Then you can slide out the icemaker.
