For Whirlpool Ice Container Assembly (Ice Bin) (Part Number: OEM18058701)

Kc for Model Number MFI2568AEW

The ice tray for Maytag refrigerator MODEL # MFI2568AEW wont lock into place, therefore ice only comes out through the door dispencer for a short time, only a few cubes of ice come out. Then the ice tray backs out of place and ice stops coming out through the door dispencer. The auger turns & ice maker makes ice, the tray just wont lock into place. Ive checked and nothing/no ice is blocking the tray from locking into place. The ice tray does not appear damaged. Can you advise what is broken and what needs replaced, Thank you.

KC, if the lock strike on the ice section is not damaged and there are no obstructions, the most likely cause of failure would be the locking mechanism in the ice container WPW10324090 has failed.

Gerry, Check to make sure that the auger inside the ice bin is not binding up as this could cause the ice bucket to slip out. If it is binding and there is nothing causing the bind then this will require a new ice bin.

Tina for Model Number MFI2569YEMO

I need help figuring out what is wrong with my icemaker so I can buy the right part. One day the water just started pouring out and wouldn't stop. It was like a ghost was filling up an invisible glass of water. I opened the door and water was pouring out of the icemaker which had filled with water. The other day, there was water on the floor (it must have happened again but I didn't see it this time) Can you tell me what is wrong with it? The refrigerator is 9 years old. Thank you, Tina

1 Answer

Tina, it would be recommended that the water valve WPW10312696 is tested for 120 Volts AC. If there is not 120 Volts going to the valve, the valve has failed and would need to be replaced. If there is 120 Volts AC, the ice maker WPW10300024 has failed and would need to be replaced.

Sharon, If there is a ice jam then you will basically want to push the button and grab the opening at the bottom of the bin and pull as hard a you can. This will be the only way to get the bin out.

Keith, The auger disengaging would be caused by a bad bin and the entire ice bin would need to be replaced. The individual parts are not available. The bin is part number WPW10324090.
