Martin T December 08, 2012 for Model Number JES8850AAB ref: Dual Infinite switch kit rewiring purchased your repair kit and on your instruction sheet for repair part# 12002125, there are 3 wiring options at the bottom of the page, depending on the existing original switch connection. the three options are if I have an a) compound connection b) L2 piggyback connection c) other my problem is I don't know the difference between a COMPOUND connection or a PIGGYBACK connection - I don't know how either of them look - therefore I don't know which of the rewiring instructions to follow please advise me on how to determine what my current connection is, using the following wire scheme from my existing switch connection: (L1, 2) = 2 BLACK wires to one terminal (5, P) = 1 BLACK wire to light (H2, 4) = YELLOW wire (L2) = 3 RED wires to 2 terminals, whereas the 2 terminals are fused together as 1 single contact ..... ie: 2 RED wires to 1 terminal 1 RED wire to 1 terminal (H1, 3) = 1 PINK wire ref # on instruction sheet is 16023363 dual infinite switch 74008248 please reply to both of the following emails: martin@twist.tc drewthomason1@gmail.com 502.554.4642 cell Martin Twist or Drew Thomas Thank you for your help
1 Answer Hello Martin, The way to hook this switch up is the 2 red will go to P2 and the single red will go to 2. You will have a jumper wire that goes from P1 to S1. Double black wire will go to P1 Single black to S2. Yellow will goe to H2 or 4a and Tan will go too H1 or 4. Read More...

Paul G February 03, 2012 for Model Number CVE3401b I have a jenn Air cooktop(ceramic top) in my center Island. I am replacing the dual infinate switch(won't turn off). Do I need to pull the entire unit out of the Island to repair?
2 Answers Hi Paul. Main Top Removal, 1. Disconnect power to cooktop and protect the countertop area. 2 Remove cooktop from installation position and place face down on protected surface. 3. Remove screws securing main top to burner box bottom. 4. Remove screws securing control panel box and conduit mounting plate to burner box assembly. 5. Remove knobs and inner grill area hidden screws. 6. Remove and replace the burner switch part # 12002125. Reverse procedure to reassemble, verifying that cooktop frame is properly aligned. NOTE: Make sure the pieces of insulation, located in the front left and right rear corners, are put back in place. Failure to do so could create excessive cabinet temperatures. Thank You. 2 Answers Paul, Yes, you will need to raise the complete unit at least enough to clear the perimeter screws(a couple of inches) so you can dismount the glass cooktop and hidden frame in the burner box. Of course you're going to need to turn off the power, disconnect the exhaust vent from the blower motor and raise the unit up from the bottom, you could use a couple of 1X2's or 2X4's to support the unit over the opening in the counter top. Don January 22, 2012 for Model Number sce30600w The dual element doesn't work at all. How do I know if it is a bad switch or element? If it is the switch, why are there two (part 9a & 9b) switches shown? Both have the same part number. Help!
1 Answer Don, You would want to conduct a circuit test of the switches( or a voltage test) to see if the switch operates and has the correct circuits, with a multi meter TJMA-DMT3 The infinite switch is the more likely issue, but you could have a problem in the burner or wiring. Since you mentioned the issue was with the dual element, That switch has been substituted to one part number12002125 and will work on all versions of that style range. To access the infinite switches, you will need to remove the control panel assembly " Remove power to the range. Open the oven door as wide as possible. Remove the four(4), 1/4 in. hex head screws from the bottom of the control panel. Grasp the control panel on both sides and carefully pull out and down to disengage." You can then remove the switch knobb and the two(2) screws that mount the switch to the control panel and remove it from the console. Label each wire and disconnect the wire from the terminals, re move and test the switch circuits.heres some meter usage information should you need it, [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html]. Steven C. October 25, 2011 for Model Number JED8430ADB I have a Jenn-Air cooktop and the front right dual switch isn't working any longer. The appliance repair shop ordered the part, # 12002125 and received it. When it came, the store owner said that this is a replacement part, not the original part, and if he puts it in it will "blow." Is this part different than the original part? Are there special installation instructions that are needed to make this part work correctly? Thanks
1 Answer Hi Stephen. Remove power. The manufacture spends a lot of investment to insure the kits are exactly what is needed. There are instructions along with the kit. There is a black jumper which explains how to use it. The Terminals may be differently marked and / or rearranged. If the instructions are followed to the letter, you will have completed the task and have success. Dual Switch Kit part # 12002125. Thank You. Read More...
Orlando April 02, 2011 for Model Number JES9800AAW Is there a instruction sheet/manual that will show the connections of the new switch that correspond the the old switch terminals? All I have is a sheet with a diagram that I do not understand, and tells me to break up wires, but it does not tell me exactly how to go about it. I do not understand the diagram, and there are a lot of wires with the same color, that have connections but I do not know where to place them!.
