Symptoms of failure involve:

  • Gaps allowing air and heat loss to compromise drying
  • Drafts carrying soil and residue back into cleaned dishes
  • Accelerated tub corrosion from an uninsulated interior environment

This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore models.

Hello Ron. You will not need to cut the foam. It is best to remove the inner door liner. As for the spray arm, you unscrew the center nut and lift it out of the unit. Thanks.

Samantha, The manufacturer does not include installation instructions with this part and to replace the part you will need to take the screws out of the inner door panel. Lift the panel and remove the old filter and install the new insulation.

Hello Charles, The foam gasket is not designed to seal water. Also the door seal is not designed to go across the bottom since the bottom of the door is designed to be the air inlet for the dry cycle. If water is jumping the air gap you need to check the spray arms for debris. You see, if the spray arm is partially clogged on one end, there will be more pressure escaping from the other end. As the spray arm spins, this inconstant pressure will put a "wave" in the water in the bottom of the tub. This will "slosh" the water over the air gap.

Charles for Model Number MDB4100

What kind plastic is used to make the tub and the inner door liner?? One of the mounting posts that accepts a screw of the inner door apparently is broken off. What kind of glue would reattach it? Meaning, is the plastic a polypropylene, CPVC, ABS or other? There is also a small hole in the tub, near the base of the door at the corner. Again, what kind of adhesive would be used to repair this? Super glue says it will repair plastic. But plumbers' plastic pipe adhesive is said to glue many types of plastic. Any advice? Thanks very much.

Charles, The plastic tub and liner is made of ABS plastic. Unfortunately any glue that would be able to be used will be dissolved by the detergent.

Dale, There is a foam insulation that is at the bottom of the door that could be bad but you will also want to make sure that the spray arms are not clogged or damaged which would cause the arm to spray in an unnatural way and cause rippling of the water which would cause it to splash out.

Hi Bobbie. Remove the lower kick panel and see if all the legs are level and touching the floor. Disconnect the hose from under the sink and try to pump(cancel) into a bucket. Check tjhe hose end and the sink connection for clogged. The pump impeller can be loose on the pump shaft and causing it to back up. Use your installation manual to see if the drain is hooked up correctly. It will show that the drain hose should enter the very top of the cabinet. It then needs to be looped and clamped there to the upper most back wall. Then taught to the drain plumbing point of the sink. Take the top of the motor assy. apart to clean the screen filter regullairly. Use dishwasher clean monthly so it will clean the entire wash system. This part # is TJ104. The pump part # is WP6-917641. Thank you.

Hello Michele. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Then remove the screws holding the inner door panel in place and remove the inner door panel. The new strip WPW10117748 installs on the bottom of the outer door panel. You will remove the tape and place the strip inside the outer door panel. Hope this helps.
