Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Range Oven Control Board (Part Number: OEM18029217)

1 Answer

Brett, as the oven control WP5701M796-60 was replaced, it would be recommended that the power supply is checked at the terminal block to ensure there is 240VAC when testing from the red wire to the black wire. If there is not voltage present, the breaker may need to be checked to ensure it is turned to the on position. If there is voltage at the terminal block, the power supply would need to be unplugged and the black wires going to the control from the terminal block will need to be tested for continuity to identify if one is broken.

James, That's my advice, you need to go back and recheck all your connections. Especially to the display board. Even unplug and reconnect.

Wes, Check to make sure that the control is not in a lock out state. If it is try to take out of the locked mode and if it is not in control lockout then the control board will most likely be faulty and need replaced.

Jay for Model Number JDR8895AAS

The oven control board was replaced in my Jenn-Air in January 2016. Last week the control board went up again. It shut off and went totally blank after the upper oven ran at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes with a pan of water being heated. Are there any other parts/factors, not part of the control board, that can kill it? Is there a cooling fan that may have failed first? Could steam exhausted from the oven just below the control board damage it? I have a surge protection in my homes electrical service, so it should not have been killed by an electrical surge. Putting in a new control board will avoid spending $2,500 for a new comparable oven, but I'm wondering for how long?

Jay, For this issue, the oven control board would be the issue and there would be no cooling fan on the unit. The venting does come from underneath the control panel but sounds like it would just be a bad board.
