Thom for Model Number KHMS1850SBL-0

Hi, My door will not close completely and, therefore, the microwave will not work. I have replaced the fuse but the lower door latch on the is broken (half the loop is missing). I believe this is my issue and not the switch. However, the only way for me to replace this seems to be to have to purchase the entire door assembly for over $200. I have found a part that looks exactly like my door latch but it doesn't list my model as a cross reference. My question is, do you know if this door latch would work in my model? I cannot see why KitchenAid would make a design requiring a customer to purchase the entire door, which is half the price of a new microwave. Thank you for any assistance you are able to provide. Kindly, Thom

Hello Thom. Sorry, we have no way of knowing if this will work because the manufacturer only says the door assembly will work. You can order the part and if it does not work, you can send it back if needed. Thanks.

Shannon for Model Number #66569682992

The door of my Kenmore above range microwave model #66569682992 does not shut. At first it would shut after slamming very hard. There are two holes located in the microwave interior where the silver latches of the door are supposed to go into. As I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't shut I accidentally pushed the white plastic piece located in each of the holes in too far.....does anyone know what I'm talking about and if it can be fixed? Thank you!

Hello Shannon. Check and see if the interlocks 8205572 need to be replaced, or if you can flip them back with an icepick. You will need to remove the outer cabinet cover to access these parts.

Hello Adam! Remove the grill and gain accress to the screw holding the control panel in place. Remove the screw and lift the control panel off the machine. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Hello Adam! You should not have to replace the microwave. You can replace the parts needed. You will need to remove the control panel to gain access to be able to see what part inside is broken. Looking at the diagram you will either need the cam 8183824 or the interlock 8205572. Hope this helps!
