Brian April 03, 2020 for Model Number GSH22VGRE WW My GE side by side has an issue with the auger motor and or dispenser board. I pulled the auger unit out and checked continuity on the 2 electrical prongs/pins to the auger motor. I checked ohm readings through all the wires as well that are associated with the solenoid/auger wiring. These readings all seemed good. I cleaned up all the contacts/electrical connections to be sure there wasn't any oxidation/corrosion present on any of the contacts. I re-installed the unit and re-connected all wire harnesses and checked function again. When the freezer door switch is closed and an attempt to dispense ice with the lever on the front of the door, there are 2 different things happening depending on whether you want crushed ice or cubed ice. If crushed ice is selected and the lever is depressed, the solenoid just hums without movement and also there is no movement with the auger motor either. If your select cubed ice and depress the lever on the door, the solenoid activates and brings upward tension on the metal rod attached to the ice bin and you can still hear a humming, but there is no auger motor movement also. I am not sure where the problem is based on these observations? Are there more tests I can perform to determine the root cause of the lack of movement with the augur motor?
1 Answer Hello Brian, This is a common occurrence with GE models. You can try turning the motor by hand. If the auger drive turns without turning the motor, the motor shaft has stripped and the auger motor will require replacement. You should use a hair dryer on the medium setting for about 15 minutes concentrating on the auger motor. What seems to happen in most cases is that the motor actually freezes up. You see, when room air enters the unit, the humidity in that air tends to condense on colder surfaces first. This would include the surfaces of the motor that are unpainted metal. If this restores operation you should do two things. First, shine a strong flashlight into the ice door area from the outside of the door while looking into the ice chute on the inside of the door. If you see light, the ice door is not seating properly. If there is no visible light, use a dollar bill around the door seal to make sure there is resistance on the bill all the way around, telling you that there is a good seal. Lastly, set the freezer to one setting warmer to attempt prevention of the problems' recurrance. Read More...
Jerry March 29, 2020 for Model Number 106.56682501 My ice dispenser doesn't work anymore and I've narrowed it down to the Auger Motor. However when I put in the model number on the motor itself of Whirlpool No. 2188860 on the website it states it is discontinued. Would someone please tell me what is the replacement auger motor for my Kenmore Coldspot side by side refrigerator?
1 Answer Jerry, Based on the model number provided the part number for the auger motor is WP2252130 Read More...
Lonnie February 16, 2020 for Model Number GS6NBEXRS01 When the dispenser switch is depressed for ice the auger motor shaft only rotates one revolution and drops one or two cubes. I’ve checked continuityAnd everything seems fine. The auger shaft and coupling were rusted together. I cleaned them up and they are freely operating. I just can’t figure out why the auger is rotating the auger shaft one revolution and then stopping.
Bill August 28, 2019 for Model Number KSRX25ftsso1 my dispenser motor turns I can try and hold the shaft with pliers but still turns, I'm guessing it is the coupling on the ice dispenser? One other question is this counter clockwise or clockwise? My blades turn ccw so the blades just pop over ice plus if I empty ice tray and hold the rod connected to blades it just pops over like it is stripped. Just replaced entire ice maker mine burned out and door flap now this
1 Answer Hello Bill, the ice bucket coupling is part W11629923, the matching coupling at top of the auger motor shaft is part WP2315559 if you need it. Read More...
Elaine August 02, 2017 for Model Number GS6NBEXRS02 My freezer does not have the "trap door" on the inside to get to the motor. Do you have a video to show how to get to it thru the front of the door dispensing area?
1 Answer Elaine, You will want to pull the drip tray out and behind the drip tray there will be a 2 screws that you will need to remove. Once you remove the screws take the dispenser housing off and you will have access to the dispenser assembly to access the motor. Read More...
Glen May 12, 2017 for Model Number GS6SHEXNL00 My ice and water dispensers are not working. I have no voltage at the water valve when water dispenser lever is pressed. No voltage to ice auger when ice dispenser is pressed with door switch closed. I want to make sure I am measuring at the correct places for both. The dispenser control is no longer available. Any idea what I can do to get one since I think this is my problem?
1 Answer Hello Glen, You could order a white one WP2252080W or a biscuit one 2252080T and remove the needed parts from the rear and install on the existing cover. I would first test for voltage at the door connector at the door hinge. Read More...
Bill March 07, 2017 for Model Number KSCS25INSS02 Ice dispenser is not dispensing ice. The ice door opens when the ice dispenser lever is pressed and alight comes on, but the auger motor doesn't turn. I have removed the 2252130 auger motor but would like to test it to verify failure before I spend $100+ to replace it. How can I test it to verify it is failed and not a problem with the control board or wiring harness.?? Thanks.
1 Answer Bill, You can test to make sure that when you push the lever there is voltage to the brown/white wire and the Red/white wire. If there is no power then the issue will be a faulty control board most likely. If there is power then the motor is the issue. Read More...
Hunter M March 02, 2017 for Model Number 106.56532400 The ice and water dispenser stopped working on our Kennmore Fridge (106.56532400). It looks like somebody tried crushed ice and it locked up completely. I've cleared the clog, emptied the ice bucket (on the door) and the ice maker is working but we can't get ice or water out of the door. Does the ice dispenser motor control both the ice and the water? Is there a reset button or something? PS: We just replaced the ice maker and valves, so I know that's not the issue.
1 Answer Hunter. This dispenser assembly has a lock on it. You will want to make sure that the dispenser is not locked. The motor would have nothing to do with both not working. The most likely cause for this would be that it is locked. Read More...
Chet September 15, 2016 for Model Number KitchenAid KSRS25FTMS01 Hi my ice dispenser is not dropping ice. the dispenser door open but the auger motor is not moving. How do I troubleshoot to determine if it is the motor or the harness wire or the control board? The auger motor part number is 2252130. thank you
1 Answer Chet, For this model the most likely cause for the motor to not turn would be a faulty dispenser motor WP2252130. Read More...
Dave January 02, 2016 for Model Number gs6nbexrb02 My ice dispenser stopped working, in both crushed and cube mode. The dispenser door still opens and closes, but no ice ever comes out. We took it apart to see what what might be the culprit and it is the wiring harness between the motor and the board. We want to make sure of the correct part number before ordering the wiring harness. Cannot seem to find it in the parts schematics.
1 Answer Dave, The part number for the wire harness between the board and the motor would be 2187813. Read More...
