For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Motor (Part Number: OEM18020316)

Rob for Model Number 106.57703701

My ice dispenser stopped working, in both crushed and cube mode. The dispenser door still opens and closes, but no ice ever comes out and I cannot hear the auger motor working at all. The interior door switch seems to work, because when the freezer door is open, the ice button will not operate the ice dispenser door unless I manually activate the freezer door switch. I have removed the auger motor and manually spun it in both directions with a 7/16" socket wrench, but it is very hard to spin. Also, the rod had about 1" of bad rust/deposits on it, so I was at first wondering if water had leaked into the motor and seized it, but the motor seems sealed....is my auger motor bad??? any help is appreciated. Rob

Hello Rob, Check for an air leak at the ice door or around a door seal allowing room humidity to condense on the metal rod. If the motor WP2252130 will not operate is the correct part for the model number provided.

Hello Kip. Once you remove the parts on the top off the drive shaft, it simply lifts out of the motor. If it is stuck, you can use pliers to pull on it with.

Hello Dennis. 1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. 2. Pull the dispenser drip tray out as far as it will go, then press down to release the catch, pull the tray out all the way and remove it from the dispenser. 3. Remove the two screws from the dispenser cover assembly. 4. Pull out at the bottom, lift up on the dispenser cover assembly, and remove the assembly from the refrigerator door. 5. Disconnect the dispenser cover 3-wire connector from the user interface board, and the ground wire connector from the ground wire harness. Now you can replace the motor in the unit.

Andy for Model Number GD5DHAXVB06

While using the crushed ice feature, we heard a loud pop and then the ice auger has stopped working on our dispenser. I thought at first it was the motor so I ordered one and replaced it but it's still not working. The switch seems to work since the front panel lights up and the LED light comes on. Measured the 120Vdc and barely getting anything there. I'm guessing whichever one of the circuit boards that supplies the voltage is bad, or a fuse on the board is bad if there are any. Anyone know which board would be bad, and where it would be located in the fridge? Thanks much, Andy

1 Answer

Andy, The most likely cause for the unit not operating would be a faulty control board part number WPW10210789 and is located next to the compressor on the back of the unit.

Mike for Model Number KSCS25FTMS02

hello, My model does not have the two screws and an exposed panel inside the freezer door to remove to get access to the auger motor, same as the last posted question on your list of questions discusses. I see the two screws at the lower part of the dispenser panel on the outside of the freezer door, but am reluctant to remove without more info, as was mentioned in the answer to that last question. Can you send me the full information on how to replace that motor from the outside of the freezer door? I already received motor 2252130 from your company. thank you

Mike, To remove the icemaker motor you will first need to remove the ice bin, remove the 2 screws under the ice bin where the shaft comes up through the door and remove the shaft. Once this is done you will then close the door and take out the dispenser drip tray. Remove the 2 screws and pull out on the bottom of the panel and lift up on the dispenser assembly to remove. Once out the motor will be there. There will be 4 screws to remove to pull the motor. Out once you have the motor out you will need to remove the bracket it sits on and transfer to the new motor. Reinstall in reverse.
