Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Drive Motor (Part Number: OEM15816357)

Hello Kerry, This washer stays on the motor shaft behind the blower wheel shroud. This basically means that if you go ahead and install the motor and ignore the washer, as long as it doesn't fall off, it will be in the correct position.

BR, We agree, but a different reason. The motor windings and insulation are overheating and producing the odor. The motor shaft and pulley wont really produce enough heat to transfer over to the belt and cause an odor, the motor overload should trip open and turn the motor off, before that would happen. Your other tests and information indicate the dryer itself is working as designed, and should last a while longer once the motor is replaced.

David, Here is the wiring of the new unit. White will go to terminal 5 (this was terminal 1 on orginal), Orange from L1 will go to 1/4" tab (was terminal 7), Orange from thermostat will go to terminal 6 (was terminal 2), Red from L2 will go to Terminal 2 (was terminal 4) and the Red from the heater will go to terminal 1(was terminal 3).

Hello R.L.A., I'm curious how much research you put into your search. The big difference here is the fact that no matter what the part, we guarantee EVERY PART WE SELL for 365 days from the date of order. If you back track and check the warranties on the parts from the other sellers, (even the manufacturers of the parts), the average warranty on the parts is only 90 days. In addition to this, most companies will not cover an electronic part if it has been installed and many of them won't grant a refund on electronic parts if the box has been opened. For these reasons, we do not mind posting this Q&A. We are very proud of our business and even go beyond the original parts manufacturers' warranty because we value our customers and have found that if we stand with our customers, our customers are always there. Most customers will pay more because they know if they experience trouble, we will step in to help in every case. Thank you for your question and we wish you the best of luck in your repair.

Your live help person suggested I need a new motor AP5272116. My dryer simply stopped working. I went to start a load and nothing happened. The timer dial still clicks and counts down the minutes, I have power at each location within the wire harness where it should be. I even have power at the end of the wiring harness where it connects to the motor. Motor turns by hand perfectly. Is it possible that the little black module on the side of the motor where the wires connect went bad, and if so can I replace that part rather than the entire motor?

Hello Jon. You need to test the thermal fuse LA-1053 on the side of the heater housing. If it is good, and the problem leads to the switch on the motor, you will have to replace the whole motor in the unit.

Mark for Model Number PYG2000AWW

"I have a Maytag Performa, about 12 years old, that recently broke a drum belt. I replaced that and vacumned all the 12 years of lint. It was looking good. It ran great for several days and now won't turn on at all. All I hear is a buzzing sound when it on. I cannot move the motor pulley (that the belt went around) or the shaft running through the motor. I thought I could the other day but don't recall for sure. The air duct blades (in front of machine and motor) don't move easily either. I thought they moved easy the other day. Could something be stuck in the motor windings or does the motor need replaced? Could it be a bad thermal fuse that causing it to not turn? Thank you for your help, in advance.
