Melih August 02, 2021 for Model Number GC5SHAXVS00 The issue is evaporator fan not spinning. I've checked the voltage from white to red and it read 12mV, almost no voltage. I've removed the fan motor and connected white/red to an external power supply of 12 V, I see no spinning. Are both control board and fan motor bad? Anything else to test?
1 Answer Melih, I would suspect when you disconnect the fan your 12 VDC would return. If you supply 12 VDC and the fan will not run then the fan would need to be replaced. With the fan disconnected make sure the voltage supply is there. Read More...
Melih July 31, 2021 for Model Number GC5SHAXVS00 The evaporator fan is not spinning. How can I test if the fan motor is good? What should the resistance readings from the motor should be? I have 4 wires coming out from the motor white-blue-yellow-red. Can I test the motor with external power supply? If the fan motor is good, what would be next to test? Thanks.
1 Answer Melih, the evaporator fan motor W11671461 would be tested from the white wire to the red wire for 12 VDC using a multimeter. If there is voltage and the fan does not operate, the motor would need to be replaced. Read More...
Helen D October 29, 2020 for Model Number KSCS23FVMS01 My refrigerator is making a chirping noise intermittently with the fan at the back of the freezer. Both the freezer and fridge are keeping good temperatures, but this noise sounds like something is getting worn out and may fail; ie it sounds like the fan in the back of the freezer is in distress. Occasionally there is a high pitched noise that sounds like a dentist drill that lasts for about 15 seconds; it is related to the same problem. I was wondering if it is the evaporator fan/motor that needs to be replaced. Please advise. Helen
1 Answer Helen D, This does sound as if the evaporator fan motor would be the issue, the part number for it is W11671461 part link: https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-motor-evap-w10822580-ap5985210.html Read More...
Joseph May 23, 2020 for Model Number KBLO36FTX00 My freezer is louder than normal. It’s gets real cold (-10) beyond the set temperature of (0 deg) then it shuts off. I’m not sure if it’s just the fan blade or motor that needs to be changed. Could it be anything else causing the loudness? Also. Is there any step by step instructions on how to change the fan blade and motor?
1 Answer Hello Joseph, if the noise is from the freezer fan motor when it is running it is likely just worn, in that case, the fan motor is part W11671461, the fan blade is part WP2169142 or if you want the motor and blade mounted in the housing as an assembly is part W10856615, unfortunately there is no repair video showing this part in your model being replaced. Aleem April 28, 2020 for Model Number JS42PPDUDB01 (JENN-AIR) Hi, Regarding part number 2259385 - evaporator motor. What is the direction of spin? It also has Panasonic CDQT22WP1 number on it. Please let me know. Regards, Aleem Khokhar
1 Answer Hello Aleem, fan motor W11671461 is the correct part for your model, looking at the shaft it turns counterclockwise. Read More...
Victor February 17, 2020 for Model Number KSSO48FMX01 It sounds like the evaporator fan motor in the freezer compartment is cycling on and off every few seconds. The fan itself also doesn't sound too healthy when it does turn on, noisier than it should be. I was thinking of replacing the fan motor, but don't think that will solve the issue of the repeated cycling. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Victor, This sounds like the evaporator fan motor W11671461 has failed in your unit. Read More...
Joe August 25, 2019 for Model Number kitchnaid kssc48qts00 I have a problem of food freezing in the refrigerator side. I did replace the thermistor on the refrigerator side. The temperature on the refrigerator side is 37 degrees and the freezer side is -10 degrees. Do I need to replace the thermistor on the freezer side as well or please advise. Thank you. Joe
1 Answer Hello Joe, actually, your temps are in range, on this model the freezer temp when set for 0 deg can normally vary between 0 and -14 deg, the variance is set by the main control based on certain conditions. The fresh food temp is normally set for 37-38 deg. If you are getting freezing on fresh food items and tried raising the fresh food temp slightly, please repost your question as to where in the fresh food section the feezing is occurring. John January 22, 2018 for Model Number KSS048FMXOO Sorry forgot to specify full email. How can I standalone test the evap motor? I have a 12V DC battery with black(0) and red(12V) connector. Should the fan run if I connect only white motor contact to black battery connector and red motor contact to red battery connector? Or do I need to connect also yellow motor contact? Please advise, thanks. John
1 Answer John, You will want to test yellow to white wire and the motor should run. You will want to check to see if there is 12 vdc getting to the motor and if there is not then the control board will be the issue and if there is then the motor is bad. Read More...
Tony August 14, 2015 for Model Number gc5shaxmt00 On my evap motor I have three wires one yellow/red one white/violet one yellow/black y/b and w/v I have 10 dcv and y/r and w/r I have 12dcv and the fan does not run it is a new motor.
1 Answer Hello Tony. Check and see if the shaft is binding up on the motor. It should run if the voltage is there unless you received a bad fan motor. Read More...
Karen July 28, 2014 for Model Number KSSS42QTXOO My refrigerator sounds like a motor is turning on and off every few seconds to every 30 seconds. When we open the doors it sound louder in the freezer than the refrigerator. The refrigerator keeps everything cold and the freezer is working too but the noise is a loud humming noise when the " motor " turns on and quiet when it is off. But this is constant! Can you help with any ideas.
1 Answer Hello Karen, This issue is going to be caused by one of the control boards. You will need a dc volt meter to determine which board is at fault. You will need to go to the WP2318054 control board. Find connector P2 and test the dc voltage from terminal 8 to terminal 9, (both on connector P2). If the reading is 17Vdc, the problem is in the board you are testing on (the manufacturer refers to this as the Niagra board). If the voltage is not there, the problem is in the other board W10219462, (referred to by the manufacturer as the Gemini board). Read More...
