Phil G December 16, 2015 for Model Number 110.269011691 My Kenmore series 90 washer hums, won't agitate or spin. I took it apart and I find that the motor shaft will not spin when disconnected from the machine. I assume I need a new motor is that correct?
1 Answer Hello Phil. Yes, if the motor is locked up, you will need to order and replace the motor in the unit. Read More...

Ken H. November 14, 2015 for Model Number GSX9885JQ0 I have a Whirlpool Gold series, direct drive washer, model GSX9885JQ0. The start capacitor burned and melted. Also, one wire, not connected to the capacitor, appears to have been over heated as well. Subsequently the machine won't agitate or spin as the motor won't kick on. I took the whole thing apart: the motor spins freely while on the bench and all winding are within spec; there is nothing jammed in the water pump; the centrifugal start switch passes a bench test, gearbox spins freely and reverses gears when turned by hand on the bench; agitator is fine. Also note: the machine did not shut itself down as it would if the motor overheated, and the were no failure codes displayed. So, why did that cap melt? I have a theory, but don't know how to explain it. So, first I thought I'd throw the question out there and see if anyone has had the experience. I'm pressed for time as there are 5 people in the house all waiting for me to solve the problem. Anybody want to help me here? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Ken, This sounds like the start capacitor WP8572720 simply failed. If a new one does not restore operation, the unit will need to be troubleshot for a harness issue or another failed component if the motor windings are not shorted. The wiring diagram from the control panel is very useful if necessary to troubleshoot for an issue such as this. Read More...
Tw November 10, 2015 for Model Number gsx9885jq0 In the normal wash cycle when the agitation cycle reaches the middle part of the cycle where it is supposed to agitate at a lower speed machine agitation speed slows way down and notice very slight flickering of lights in laundry room.
1 Answer Hello TW. It sounds like the motor is dragging on the unit. Check for binding in the unit. If none is found, you will need to replace the motor. Read More...
Calvin May 05, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore 11020922990 Hello Washer not draining. When I switch it on all I hear is a clicking sound. Unit runs OK agitating. Any ideas please?
1 Answer Hello Calvin. You need to check the lid switch WP3949238 on the unit and see if it is bad and needs to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Bryant February 07, 2014 for Model Number GSL9365EZ1 I have a whirlpool with motor part # AP2907254 and wire harness part #AP3020157. I took it apart and was wondering how to bench test the motor? My problem is either in the motor or gearcase.
1 Answer Hello Bryant. You just need to bypass the lid switch. It should spin if the timer is on in the spin cycle. Read More...
Jason January 17, 2014 for Model Number 110.20912991 My washing machine stopped mid cycle with a burning smell, I took the cabinet off and the motor was very hot, the next day I took everything apart everything seemed fine so I put it all back together and now it runs fine, but the motor still gets very warm to the touch ! Is that normal??
1 Answer Hello Jason. No, the motor should get hot, but not super hot and shutting off. Either something is binding in the unit or the motor is bad. Read More...
Lucas December 05, 2013 for Model Number 110.26912691 Hi, my unit seems to run fine in spin and drain but in agitate it's drawing enough amps to literally dim the lights in the house each time the motor moves the agitator. The agitator does move freely, as does the motor and clutch... At least by hand. I'm thinking clutch but what do I know!? Got ideas? Seen this before? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Lucas. It sounds like the transmission may be binding. If the unit spins fine, the motor is good on the unit. Read More...
