Paul January 30, 2021 for Model Number 665 13402N411 Lower spray not spinning. Water filling ok. No obstructions found. My question is : should the shaft of the diverter motor turn freely? I can't move it at all. Thanks
1 Answer Paul, the diverter motor W10537869 should only rotate when supplied with voltage. It would be recommended that the wash arm WPW10491331 is checked for any cracks. If the diverter motor receives 120VAC and does not rotate, it has failed and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Jim January 06, 2021 for Model Number 665.12773K311 Please see two corrections (in CAPS) to my previously asked question below: For the last few weeks my dishwasher is making A NOISE that started out as a car's belt slipping and had progressed to sounding like a neighbor's lawn mower passing by the window of the room you're sitting it. It started making the sound soon after start up ... maybe in the first minute or two. As usage progressed the sound would occur more frequently throughout the wash cycle. It would last 5-10 seconds then stop before repeating itself again. It did NOT seem to make this noise while water can be heard draining. In addition, I noticed a slow leak coming from the diverter motor. Would a new sump assembly and diverter motor maybe fix both the leak and noise? Thank you!
1 Answer Jim, based on the information provided, replacing the diverter motor W10537869 and the sump WPW10455268 should correct the issue. Read More...

1 Answer Jim, Yes, replacing the sump and diverter motor would most likely correct both issues. It would be recommended to check to make sure that there is nothing caught in the sump that could be creating the noise. Read More...
Steve October 06, 2020 for Model Number KDFE104S0 My kitchenaid dishwasher is not getting the dishes clean. I've cleaned out the filters and checked the spray arms to see if they were clogged and everything looks good. it appears the spray arms are getting water but not rotating? What would cause that?
1 Answer Steve, Check the water level in the dishwasher. If the unit is not getting enough water it will cause this type of issue. If there is enough water then it is possible that the divereter motor is not working properly. Read More...
Incogneato September 05, 2020 for Model Number KDTE254ESS1 Diagnostic code 9-1. I noticed a soft rhythmic clicking noise during the wash cycle coming from under the dishwasher. The sound goes away during the drain cycle. Dishes do not clean well. Already have cleaned all the insides and sound/dirty dishes remain. Could the diverter motor be the issue? Thank you for your time.
1 Answer Incogneato, based on the information provided, it sounds like the diverter motor W10537869 has seized up and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Steven August 27, 2020 for Model Number Kenmore 665.12093K210 My dishwasher has started leaking from the bottom. Based on my research, it sounds like it could be a bad grommet seal around the diverter motor. Does this sound about right? If so, what part do I need to order to replace? Thank you.
1 Answer Steven, The grommet seal for the diverter motor is part of the sump and is not available separately. WPW10455268 Read More...
Charles David Terry August 05, 2020 for Model Number 665.13263k113 This question is regarding the diverter motor shaft. Since the shaft has been redesigned, should there be a different shaft seal too? The video shows the new motor shaft passing through the existing seal. Can I purchase just a replacement seal (original design) to match the original shaft design? Perhaps the leak might be due to only a worn seal. Thank you David
1 Answer Charles, The seal can only be gotten with the sump WPW10455268 and would be the most likely cause for the leaking. The new motor will work with the old seal but again the seal is most likely what is leaking. Read More...
Dave May 13, 2020 for Model Number 665.13692N411 I have a Kenmore Dishwasher that has stopped cleaning the dishes; it now makes a loud humming sound but doesn't sound normal and I don't hear the "washing" sound I'm used to. The error code was F8 E1, which indicates a drain problem. I ordered and installed a new drain pump, however, now am thinking this is likely the diverter motor. I don't want to keep ordering parts. How do I determine what's failing?
1 Answer Hello Dave, the fault code refers to the control not seeing the water level drop in the time allowed, the humming would be the drain pump running, The diverter motor is used for diverting the wash motor water flow to the different wash spray arms and has a different fault code. Since the drain pump was replaced and if having the same problem check down in the sump area for any blockage/debris at the drain pump inlet, also check if the drain hose is blocked internally, either would also cause the same problem. Jim April 09, 2020 for Model Number KDTE254ESS1 Hi, I have a leak right at the diverter motor area. I've done a number of trial and error and luckily found other future problems and fixed those in the process, but I have not completely stopped the leak. I've replaced the tiny seal around the diverter shaft, I've cleaned out everything around the diverter motor, and I've even removed the divert motor to clean it and reinstall it. It is leaking less severely but still leaking and seems to do it when water is running and the diverter is active but doesn't leak when there is just standing water. Do I just go ahead and replace the whole sump, the diverter motor, or both? I've had this dishwasher (model KDTE254ESS1) maybe 3 years and with a family of 4, it is running constantly. So it definitely puts in its time.
1 Answer Jim, it would be recommended that the sump WPW10455268 is replaced as it sounds like water is likely leaking around the seal through the sides. Read More...
Kat January 19, 2020 for Model Number WDT780SAEM1 Dishwasher appears to be leaking. Need part number for diverter grommet seal. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Kat, the water seal for the diverter motor shaft is built into the sump assembly, part WPW10455268. Read More...
