David A August 08, 2015 for Model Number KSSC42QTS02 My KitchenAid refrigerator has had several problems. I first replaced the main control circuit board, then the ice maker chute dispenser door and motor. Now, it seems the auger motor is either stripped or somehow disconnected. It makes a sound, but i can't see that it's spinning the hex driver rod (whatever it's called) that drives the auger above it. I'm wondering whether it has had some moisture get into it and is freezing up. If it needs replacing, are there instructions and/or a video? The chute door motor and chute required taking the stainless steel skin off the door just to access it. I'm thinking I will need to do the same to get to the auger motor. I don't want to buy it until I know I can make the repair.
1 Answer David, The ice dispenser motor is relatively easy to replace. You will need to remove the ice bin and under this bin where the shaft comes through the door you will remove those 2 screws with a 1/4" ratchet. Once this is removed lift out the shaft, then if you follow the door down to the first shelf below the icemaker bin and if you look up from that shelf there is a cover. Remove the cover and you will have access to the motor. Read More...
Rvb May 21, 2015 for Model Number KSSO42QTX02 Ice not dispensing. Ice chute door opening ok. Coupling at bottom of ice bucket appeared partially stripped. Replaced. Auger turns when ice bucket is empty. Auger does not turn when bucket filled with ice.
1 Answer RVB, You will want to check the shaft to make sure that it is in proportionately. If you have it too low or too high it will cause jumping as it is trying to turn the ice to dispense. If this checks ok then the motor would be the most likely cause. Read More...
Gary April 29, 2015 for Model Number ED5LHAXWQ00 The ice dispenser motor does not turn. I have taken the motor out and put the actuator rod in it, but cannot turn the motor manually. If you had a new motor, can you turn it by hand? Thank you.
Martin January 17, 2015 for Model Number ED5LVAXWQ00 After installing the new motor (part # W10271507), the motor is still not operational. Here is some probable cause: 1. The new motor is defective (very unlikely). 2. There is a burned circuit board somewhere - can you help which one ??? 3. I did open the front cover of the door that has all the push button switches (Lock Out, Crushed, Cubed and Light) - I disconnect all the wires behind it. Is it possible I put the wires the wrong way ???- the Lock Out and Light still work after I reconnected the wires back. Can you help to ensure the wires are connected correctly. 4. Microswitch of the dispenser handle is OK - I checked it with continuity tester. 5. Any other possibility - please help ! Thank you
1 Answer Martin, While it is possible that you reconnected the wires wrong it would almost be unlikely. The switch board is color coded so the wiring should match the color listed. When you checked the switch on the bracket you will want to make sure that the pins holding the switch are not broken. If they are then replace the bracket. Also check to make sure that when the paddle is pushed that it hits the switch and depresses it. If all this checks ok then check the harness at the bottom of the door to make sure that there are no broken or damaged wires. Read More...
Martin December 22, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool Model ED5LVAXWQ00 Could you explain how to replace the Dispenser Motor - part # AP4434793 (Manufacturer # W10271507). 1 Answer Hello Martin. Look from the bottom of the door upward and you will see a cover with 2 screws half way up. Remove that cover to access and replace the motor in the unit. Read More...
William I August 19, 2014 for Model Number 2315546 Hi, Can I purchase the wire connector block , 7 Pin for the motor listed? The wires are good but the block itself broke off from wires when I (stupidly) tried to disconnect motor after we lost power and ice melted into motor and ruined it. Thanks, Bill
1 Answer William, If the block that the wires goes into is broken then the door of the unit would need to be replaced as the connector is not available separately. Read More...
Lori July 27, 2014 for Model Number KSSC42QTS00 I also need the wire schematic for the ice dispenser motor. I have seen several replies but none for my exact model KSSC42QTS00. Motor W10271507. There are 3 pins then a space, then 3 more pins. The brown/white wire is still in the terminal and next directly next to it is the red/white. I have 2 more that came out of the terminal, a blue one and a gray one. The terminal has 7 holes. Does anyone know the order? On this forum I have seen suggestions that the blue goes in other end, then a space, then the gray, and I have seen gray on end and blue right next to. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know! Thanks.
1 Answer Lori, The brown/white wire is considered pin 1 so basing it on that here is the listing that it should go. Pin 1 Brown/white Pin 2 Red/white Pin 3 not used Pin 4 empty Pin 5 Gray Pin6 not used Pin 7 Blue Read More...
Myron April 01, 2014 for Model Number KSSC48QTS02 KITCHENAID FRIG Need part 2315546 Whirlpool assembly for a kitchenaid refrigerator. The wiring harness going into the unit is also corroded beyond repair- I need that as well and I have 4 wires two came loose and I don't know which port to put them back into- I can send pictures if it helps.
2 Answers Myron, Unfortunately the wire harness for the dispenser motor and going into the door is not available as separate parts. You would need to replace the freezer door if the wires are corroded beyond repair. The part number for the door is W10179205. Read More...

Diana C March 12, 2014 for Model Number ED5FHAXSQ01 I called your company. The lady I spoke with said part number AP4434793 is probably my problem. I need to know for sure. My ice maker is allowing water into it, but it will no longer drop the ice. I don't know where this part is located, and if this is the part I need? Or, could it be the assembly to the ice maker?
1 Answer Hello Diana. No, if the icemaker is not cycling, make sure the temp is 0 to 5°. If so, replace the icemaker on the unit. Read More...
