Danny January 02, 2012 for Model Number 9475XRB Does reach temperature set to get 350 need to set at 500 and takes about an hour to reach temp if it even reaches, oven is 20 year old.
1 Answer Hello Danny. You will need to test both elements and see if they are bad. Should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bob D. December 08, 2011 for Model Number Magic chef wall Oven , Model 9495 XRB The temperature reading is incorrect. It is off by 100 degrees F (below).I already changed door hinges, and igniter but it did not help. Do you think temperature sensor should be changed? Could you give me the detail instruction to do that please? This oven is 18 yrs old.
1 Answer Hello Bob. Test the sensor 12001655. You should have 1100 ohms at room temperature and 1650 at 350°. To access and replace the sensor, you will need to un-install the oven and remove the back cover off the unit. This will also need to be done to test it. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Stem December 04, 2011 for Model Number CRG9700CAE Thanks for your response. I have tested the Oven sensor Ohms at room temp which were 1074 ohms and at 350 degrees it was at 1558 ohms. When I set the oven temp at 350 it runs up to about 400 and sometimes much higher, sometimes much lower. It seems to vary randomly each time we use it. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Stem. Based on the information, the oven sensor is good, and you will need to replace the control board 12001613. Hope this helps. Read More...
Stem November 30, 2011 for Model Number CRG9700CAE My Maytag oven seems to have erratic temperature control. It will vary over a period of time while cooking. Would this be the Oven Sensor or some other part? How should I check to be sure I am getting the correct part?
1 Answer Hello Stem. The oven sensor 12001655 should read around 1100 ohms at room temperature and 1650 at 350°. If it is bad, it will need to be replaced. If it is good, replace the clock 12001613. Hope this helps. Read More...
Charley November 28, 2011 for Model Number 3042932011 Sir, My Maytag oven (CRG8600AAW) cannot heat up. 1. When the temperature is set up 200 – 500F, the meter goes up very fast (less than 1 minute) to the temperature that I set. But the oven temperature does not reach that level (I use another thermometer inside the oven). 2. When the temperature is set up 550F (the highest), the oven burner keeps on burning: the temperature showing on the thermometer inside oven already reached that level, but burner does not stop. 3. The boiler works well. The stove top also works well. 4. I tested sensor (when it is disconnected) with multi-meter at various temperature: On the room temperature: it reads 1075 OHMS; When the oven is 500F, the meter reads 1900 OHMS (Looks good). 5. The meter on the top of stove sometime showing F5, and beep. Please help; is it possible that SENSOR is still defective? Charley
1 Answer Hello Charley. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control 7601P222-60 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Bob November 15, 2011 for Model Number Magic Chef 34MN3TKXWON I have a 20+ year old Magic Chef gas range with a faulty oven temperature readout. Broiler works fine, ignitor works fine, no error messages, flame comes on fine, oven heats up, but the electronic temperature readout climbs very quickly to the temperature we have preset for the oven so the flame goes out and we never get above about 125 degrees. For instance, I set the desired bake temperature at 400 degrees with the oven door removed. Temperature readout showed the oven reached 400 degrees within 30 seconds of the oven flame coming on! I removed and checked the oven sensor and it read 1100 OHMS at room temperature so it appears to be OK. Is it possible that even though the sensor tested OK, it is still defective? Or is the control panel? Control panel replacement ($200+) would be way too expensive for an oven that old so I would just buy a new oven.
1 Answer Hello Bob. It sounds like the EOC 7601P181-60 is bad in the unit. This reads the temperature of the sensor. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Thanks. Read More...
Glenn November 04, 2011 for Model Number MGR5765QDQ When I turn the oven on it goes to 100 degrees, then takes a long time to start heating to the set tempture. Once temperature is at the set temperture it will stay there. PG&E suggested that the Hot Surface Ignitor was bad. I do not see this part on the list. Thanks, Glenn.
1 Answer Hi Glen. You will need to ohm the bake ignitor to see if it is between 75-800 ohms cold. It may be opening under power not allowing the safety valve to open/close allowing gas flow. Bake ignitor is part # 74007498. The oven sensor ohms 1080- 1100 ohms. If is is open or shorted then the temperature is affected as well. Part # 12001655.This part failure will show F-3 as you did not mention but you still need to use a ohm meter. Thank You. Read More...
Kevin November 04, 2011 for Model Number 34GA-4T KXW Oven temp was off by apprx 100 deg. I purchased a new sensor from you AP4009456. Installed it and the temp. still reads apprx. 100 deg. higher than actual oven temp. I had to splice the wire from the front access . Is it possible to have a polarity problem , if so would it cause false readings? Or a defective new sensor? Do not want to buy a new clock control board, this oven is 20 years old. Thanks for any help
1 Answer Hi Kevin. Sounds like you are on the correct path with the control board. That part is # 7601P155-60. The polarity does not matter. The control board starts the temperature reading at 100° until the relays / sensor tells the oven it is at 350° and stable. Ohm out the bake ignitor for 75-800 ohms cold. Part # 12400035. Use a amp probe to clamp on 1-wire from the ignitor to the safety valve. Is it using 3.2-3.6 amps and not lighting? Then you will need the safety valve part # 7501P095-60. Look there to see if the oven gas is igniting properly in 30-45 seconds. Thank You. Read More...
Danielle October 29, 2011 for Model Number AGR5712ADW My oven does not heat - I do not get an error code at all. I replaced the ignitor but that did not fix the problem. Any ideas? I was told maybe the sensor or thermostat? Any idea which one it could be?
1 Answer Danielle, You don't have a thermostat cycling or safety on your unit so that's not it. It could be an issue with the sensor being out of range, but doubtful. Try this, remove the oven bottom, and racks, Program a bake cycle, observe the temperature display it should display a temperature of 100 to 200 degrees after the initial temperature selected is displayed, then observe the glow gar igniter, it should start to glow orange, then red, then "white hot" all in about 30 to 60 seconds. If it doesn't glow at all, you'll need to check the new igniter for cracks or breaks, they're very fagile, you may have a bad one in the box, the other possibility is a bad ERC/Clock or damaged wire to the igniter. Let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Joe October 12, 2011 for Model Number 38FA-3TX Oven only pre heats to 100 and shuts off. Can I replace the short tip sensor with a long tip sensor?
1 Answer Joe, Yes you can use a long sensor in place of the short sensor, but at this point you don't need it, unless you're getting an error code(F2,F3,etc.). Based on your post, you most likely have a damaged loose wire to the element(s), open element,(program a broil cycle, see if the broil element enrgizes and gets hot). Hopefully it won't get into a relay board or clock. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
