John S. November 01, 2013 for Model Number GU23OOOXTVQ1 How do I replace the door friction pads? (both of them have broken so the door will not stay in a partly open position) Can I just loosen the scews that are into the counter and slide the dishwasher out to get at the area? Would I be damaging any electrical or water connections if I do that?
1 Answer John, It is likely that you could cause a few issues without disconnecting the water line and electrical conduit from the dishwasher before you move it out of the counter opening. If you're lucky and have the two(2) or three(3) inches of slack needed, you still want to turn off the power and water supply to the dishwasher, anyway. Read More...
After Hours October 24, 2013 for Model Number DU1055XTVS1 I have read the questions and answers about the rubber piece 8268961 / PS731965. They were of of great help! I too have found both of them torn and on the floor and did not know where they belonged. I too was concerned with the door not staying down when fully opened but, that was answered in one of the questions. They lasted only 2 years before they were torn. to avoid tearing up a custom kitchen, do they really need to be replaced? thank you for your time.

Teachermamma April 29, 2013 for Model Number GU2300XTVQ1 My dishwasher door doesn't stay down when I put it all the way down. It slowly starts rising up. We found this part had a slice through so it was broken. Do you think this ripped part is the reason we are having problem with our door? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello teachermamma. This is normal for a dishwasher. The only way the door will stay open is for the rack to be pulled out onto the door. The springs are very strong and will cause the door to slowly rise upward. Read More...
Sudhi R January 16, 2013 for Model Number GU2275XTVY0 I think my Whilrpool Dishwasher Door spat out the two sleeves which prevent the door from slamming down when opened. It looks like the part no. 8268961 but I am not sure. Can you please confirm so I can buy. Also, where exactly on the Hinge Arm should this go? SR
1 Answer Hello Sudhi, This would more than likely be the door spring bushing WP8268990. If the bushing breaks then the door will just slam open. This just attaches to the spring and to the end of the hinge. Read More...
Roy January 16, 2012 for Model Number GU2275xtuy1 I also found a friction pad AP3175245 on the floor in front of my 14 mth old WP Gold. It is split on the top. Does this effect the tension on the door raising and lowering? To replace does the washer need to be pulled out and the spring removed?
1 Answer Hi Roy. The friction pad part # WP8268961 is used for Quietness of spring action and rubbing against the frame. It does not effect the tension. You only need to pull the unit out 1/3 of the way to access the complete door spring. Just insure that the springs are reattached in the exact notch placements for door tension action. Thank You. 2 Answers Hi John. When you get the panel off, you use a putty knife to scrape the old one off. Then you use the adhesive sealant to adhere the new felt pad onto the panel. Make sure you allow 24-hrs to dry before running the unit. Thank You. Read More...
