Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Ice Dispenser Solenoid (Part Number: OEM18017550)

Hello Chantel, the manufacturer has not supplied the ohm value of the cube/crush solenoid, it does operate on 120v when activated, the plunger should slide smoothly into the solenoid, if the wire harnesses tat the top/bottom of the freezer door are not damaged, likely the cube/crush microswitch needs to be replaced.

David, if water will dispense when selected, then the auger motor WPW10317991 would need to be tested for 120VAC while the door switch is taped shut. If there is 120VAC, the auger motor would need to be replaced. If there is not 120VAC, the wiring at the hinge would need to be inspected for any damaged wires. If there is a damaged wire and it can not be repaired, the door LW10201135 would need to be replaced. Unfortunately, the door has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Jason, the ice maker 4317943 wire harness that runs from the ice maker to the connector at the auger assembly does have an internal fuse on the black wire. This can be tested for continuity. As the ice maker was jumped from T to H and did not go into a harvest cycle, this would indicate either a wire issue, or the ice maker having failed.

Mark, the bale arm that measures the amount of ice in the bucket should be down. Check the slot where the arm pushes into the front of the motor module, is it in the right position? It should move freely up and down and when it is in the run position, it should be all the way down.

The Vegas Guy for Model Number MSD2576VEM00

I am looking for an electrical wiring diagram for the unit. specifically the freezer area. Having issues with the ice dispenser auger. A while back I had it not wanting to stop once after dispensing ice through the door. Opening the freezer door stopped the unit. After pulling the ice tray and looking around it was fixed. Not sure what I did but it started working normally. Approximately 1 month later it did it again. But I could not get it to stop unless the door was open. I removed the NO/NC switch assy so I could close the door. I started to troubleshoot and removed the dispenser in the door. With the dispenser unit removed along with the controlling circuit boards. The unit continues to want to run if I rewire the switch assy. back into the top of the freezer body door frame. I am unable to find any electrical drawings to see if there might be a control relay that feeds the auger motor that might be stuck closed causing it to run constantly. Any assistance or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Hello Vegas Guy, This issue is normally caused by a sticking actuator switch W10176455 in the dispenser control. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Robert, It would be suggested that if the auger is not turning on then check to see if the auger motor is getting 120 vac to it. It does not sound like the solenoid would be the issue but more likely the auger motor or the switch in the dispenser assembly.

John, There is a possibility of a switch that is faulty on the pad or the dispenser control board would possibly be faulty. If you access the tech sheet from under the front of the unit, there will be a pad and button test that you can do to test the pads on the unit.

Gerald, For the unit only dispensing crushed ice, you will want to check to make sure that the solenoid is not stuck in the up position. If the solenoid is not stuck then you would want to replace the solenoid.
