Tom March 23, 2015 for Model Number ET18PKXFWO1 My ice maker does not make ice. I replaced the ice maker unit in the freezer as well as the fill valve. I also replaced the bi-metal defrost thermostat. The fill line is freezing just after the 90 where it enters the tray reservoir.
1 Answer Hello Tom, This is most likely an issue with water pressure since low water pressure and a bad water inlet valve are the only two things that will freeze the water line. Read More...
Tom December 31, 2014 for Model Number g17fvcxwq00 Pretty sure, that my water line is frozen. I have had the fridge unplugged in open now for about 8 hrs. How long should it take, nothing going to ice maker, or in door water.
1 Answer Tom, It can take upwards of 24 hours or so in order for the water tank to thaw out if it is frozen. This issue could also be a bad water filter head or water filter that could cause this issue to occur. Read More...
Larry S December 01, 2014 for Model Number KSRS25QGWH01 Can I check the water inlet valve with an ohmmeter?
1 Answer Hello Larry. Sure, test for power to the valve. If there is power there, and no water, replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Tim November 24, 2014 for Model Number GD22DQXFB00 I have a Whirlpool side-by-side with water and ice in the door, which both work properly. The issue I'm having is I keep getting a build up of ice in the back of the ice tray and it grows so thick that I have to break up the ice to remove the ice tray. The icemaker still produces ice. After reading the different Q and A's I'm thinking that possibly it needs the dual solenoid replaced? Thank you, Tim.
1 Answer Hello Tim. If the water valve is slowly leaking and allowing water to over flow and form a ice build up in the bucket, you will need to replace the valve on the unit. You can remove the hose from the valve to see if it is leaking or not. Read More...
Jason October 08, 2014 for Model Number ED25PQ I am getting very little water to come out of the water dispenser and no water going to the ice maker. I did have ice build up in the tube but I defrosted that and am still having issues. I also checked the line coming in and it has plenty of water pressure. Curious if the problem is the water inlet valve or if you think it could be something else.
1 Answer Hello Jason. You need to check and see if the water filter is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Lora August 08, 2014 for Model Number ED2CHQXKQ05 Our Ice maker stop working, we took it a part and there was a little bit of water in the ice mold , so we thought it was the dual water inlet valve, we purchased a new one and installed it. But we noticed that there is no water going to the ice maker tube on the back of the refrigerator. Can you please help us.
1 Answer Lora, You will want to check the fill tube in the freezer compartment to make sure that it is not frozen up. If frozen then the issue is most likely that the water valve was seeping allow water to trickle in in which case you already resolved. If not frozen then the icemaker would most likely be the cause for failure. Read More...
A.W.Palmer June 16, 2014 for Model Number 10650023210 The tube connector from the water inlet valve (W10179146) to the ice maker cracked causing a serious leak under our fridge. The problem is the tube connector, not the valve itself. When I talk to Sears Repair, they say I can just replace the 1/4 in. tubing. But the tube connector reduces the 1/4 in. tubing down to a smaller (right angle) tubing to insert into the compression fitting on the valve itself. The water inlet valve W10179146 will not accept 1/4 in. tubing. Do I need to find the reducing right angle tube to fix the leak? Or do I need to replace the whole valve that will accept larger 1/4 in. tubing?
1 Answer A.W. Palmer, The water valve WPW10179146 does not require a special fitting to accept the 1/4" tubing. One side of the valve will accept the 5/16" line from the water tank and the other side will accept the 1/4" tubing from the icemaker. Read More...
Problemman June 12, 2014 for Model Number ED25CQXFB01 When and if I order a dual water inlet valve kit WP2188542 for my side by side refrigerator will it have a line for a filter which mine does not have, or will it just have the hook ups for only the ice maker and water levers at the door? If it does have a hookup for a filter will there be some way to plug it and not use it?
1 Answer Hello! No, the inlet valve WP2188542 will not have a port for a filter line. Thanks. Read More...
Daniel H. May 08, 2014 for Model Number ksrs25qfwh00 I have replaced this water valve several times. I believe there is something electronically that is not shutting this valve off. I have water overfilling in my ice maker. What else can I check?
1 Answer Hello Daniel, Remove the front cover of the icemaker and check the two pins in the center of the geared wheel. If the pins are touching each other or one is missing, the icemaker module W10190935 will need to be replaced. Since this price is kind of inflated, you may want to replace the complete icemaker assembly WPW10190965. Read More...
