Linda July 11, 2017 for Model Number Amana ADB1100AWW4 The dishwasher door falls open with no tension. I assume it needs a new spring, or maybe the bushing is broken. Is that what it attaches to? Do I need 2 new springs or bushings, or just 1? And do you think that's the problem? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Linda, This could be the fault of the springs WPW10337934 but more commonly, the bushing WP8268990 is the part that tends to break. I would recommend pulling the unit out about 6 inches to see exactly what parts are needed before ordering, but one of each should be ordered for each side since, when one breaks, excessive wear is exerted on the other side and it normally fails soon after the first fails. 1 Answer Hello Lynn. You need to look and see if the spring or the bushing broke and is causing the door to drop in the unit. Read More...
James August 04, 2012 for Model Number GU2500 I have the same problem (above question)-- door bounces up quarter of the way. And the door needs to be latched or the door falls gently down. The springs look OK since I can see them. Should I replace the springs? Spring fatigue? Thanks
1 Answer James, If you have the original outer door panel, You may have a "spring fatigue" issue, but you should be able to adjust the spring tension " • If the door closes too quickly, decrease the spring tension by moving the spring end toward the front of the dishwasher. • If the door falls open, increase the spring tension by moving the spring end toward the back of the dishwasher. • Springs should be in the same notches on left and right sides." If you've installed a custom panel it may be too heavy for the springs to compensate for. Read More...
