Monty February 16, 2017 for Model Number PAV2300AWW Series 12 Our washing machine advances the inner drum when the agitator moves clockwise during the wash and rinse cycles. When washer is in spin cycle everything works properly. It looks like a brake issue of some type but I am not sure of my diagnosis or if it is the stater brake or regular brake. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I NEED A SPECIAL TOOL FOR THESE REPAIRS. Also the washer goes out of balance very easy, nearly every load we wash. Many of those loads are only a few items that are grouping in one area. I know when this happens we have to redistribute the load. Larger loads are also going out of balance on spin, part of this may be due to the inner drum rotating when the agitator moves clockwise during wash and rinse cycles. It seems to cause larger loads to be grouped together much more than normal. I have ordered a Snubber ring but do you think I may also need new springs? The springs I have now will return the tub to normal position if pushed in any direction. Would you advise trying the new snubber and your suggested fix for the drum advancing issue first before ordering springs?
1 Answer Hello Monty. It sounds like you will need to replace the rotor WP35-6714, the stator WP35-6918, and the snubber WP21002026 on the unit. This should repair the issues your having with the unit. Read More...
T August 30, 2016 for Model Number MAV4758AWW Washer fills, agitates, and drains. But clothes are still soak and wet. I ordered the bearing kit and replace it entirely. It did not solve the issue. While setting dial to spin, I open lid and put resistant to the agitator, then the tub starts to spin very well. but when I let go the lid trigger it stops and it needs resistant apply on the agitator again for spinning. Question, is this a symptom of the bearing kit installation and adjustments was not made correctly? or is this an issue with main transmission mechanics which causes tub to spin? or I need to replace the drive motor? The technician recommended replacing a drive motor, but I am not convinced the issue is the drive motor.
1 Answer T, No you do not need a drive motor, You may want to check and make sure the motor moves freely on the slide plate, and the drive belt isn't worn excessively, but not a motor. Based on your post description the problem is most likely an improper adjustment on the thrust bearing and cam kit, it can be tricky and frustrating, sometimes you have to use the washers from the original thrust bearing and or a combination of old and new. The easiest way to gauge it, once you have everything adjusted, lubricated and ready to install the "E" clip on the shaft, you'll need to use a small flat blade screw driver, and "pry down on the transmission shaft a little to insert the clip into the groove on the shaft, then seat the clip properly using a pair of needle nose pliers, If that doesn't solve the problem, then the transmission clutch spring is the problem, and you'd need a new transmission. Victor A. M. September 28, 2014 for Model Number mav9657ewq The washer fills, agitates and drains. But it will not spin, regardless of what cycle you turn the timer to. So at the end of the cycle the tub is empty but the clothes are still really wet since the tub never spun. When it should be spinning the agitator is actually turning. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be. With the top panel lifted, I turn the timer to spin and turn on the machine. The agitator turns. If I use my hands and try to resist the agitator, the tub attempts to start spinning. If i use my hand and assist the tub to start spinning, it will spin for a few seconds fairly quickly, but then stop. The belt is obviously good. If I take the belt off and turn the agitator pulley on the bottom, it spins freely and the agitator turns but the tub does not. The electric motor slides properly in its mount. I took the metal tub completely out. There is nothing between the metal tub and the plastic tub.....like a sock or something. Any ideas?? Thanks, Victor
1 Answer Victor, You have a worn out thrust bearing assembly 12002213. The tolerance are too far worn out to properly engage the clutch washers and release the brake to allow the tub to spin. Based on your post, everything else is within specifications. Read More...
Rod May 31, 2012 for Model Number MAV408DAWW My washer creates a loud noise when it's agitating, I replaced the drive belt and it was still the same. It spins real good, but it leaves wet clothes when it stops. Do you think the problem was the water pump or brake assembly, or transmission assembly?
1 Answer Hello Rod. Turn the pulleys by hand. Make sure the pump is not dragging and the thrust bearing is releasing the brake properly on the unit. If the pump is dragging, replace the pump WP35-6780. If the brake is not releasing right, replace the thrust bearing kit 12002213. Read More...
