The Suspension Rod Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines, designed to provide support and stability to the washer drum. This kit includes four suspension rods that connect the washing machine drum to the frame, allowing for controlled movement and reducing vibration during the spin cycle. These rods play a critical role in absorbing the motion of the washer drum, ensuring smooth operation and preventing excessive noise or movement that could damage the machine or affect its performance.

Causes of these issues often stem from normal wear and tear, as the suspension rods can become worn out or damaged over time. Heavy or uneven loads can also put extra stress on the rods, leading to premature failure.

Symptoms of a bad part:

  • Excessive noise or vibration during operation
  • Shaking or movement of the washer
  • Unevenly washed clothes or excessive wrinkles

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

For Whirlpool Suspension Rod Kit (Part Number: OEM17914203)

Jeff for Model Number 110.5142510

I installed suspension kit W10780048 and after a few runs/cycles the washer is again unbalanced, shaking, banging the side cabinet very bad. All four suspension rods were installed per the video. Am I missing something? Are these new suspension rods failing? There was no bearing grinding noise during the wash cycles. In the rinse spin cycle it goes out of balance. Do I need to recalibrate this Kenmore Series 100 HE washer after suspension rod installations? Help!

Jeff, Based on the description of the issue, I would check the level of the machine and that all four feet are firmly on the floor. Check the floor that it's not weak. Make sure the loads placed in the washer are of like items & that the load is balanced in the tub.
