Lois B February 22, 2020 for Model Number SVE47500W We have a down draft Jenn-Aire Model SVE47500W. The burner heat is too hot and it appears we need to replace the infinite switch. Is part number W11120791 the correct part and are there any instructions and/or wiring diagrams available for reference ? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Lois, unfortunately, the infinite switch manufacturer has made a design change to this infinite switch and they will no longer function correctly in this model design, there is no other substitute switch available. Read More...
Paul August 13, 2019 for Model Number 20237 I have attempted twice now to follow up on my previous question and have not received any answer or even an email acknowledgement that I raised a followup. Perhaps if I pose this as a new question you will see it. Using a multimeter, I have determined that your answer to my previous question is incorrect. In the old switches it was true that L2/H2 was the side that cycled. In the new switches, L1/H1 is the side that cycles as I proposed in my question. For a stove that uses a common connection to the burners, it -is- necessary to switch the wires (the wire to the old H2 needs to go to H1 on the new switch and the wire to the old H1 needs to go to HC on the new switch). At the same time, it is critical that the switches for one side of the stove also be replaced as a pair and both wired in the new way. Wiring only one in the new way will cause a short circuit that at a minimum will burn out a switch. Replacing one or both switches and just using HC as the new H2 will lead to some variation of the symptom that I raised in my original question. I did replace both switches (as I mentioned in the previous question) and I changed the wiring as described above and now my stove works correctly. You need to post a warning about this issue for this replacement switch.
1 Answer Paul, On the switch, the L1 is your power supply in and H1 is power supply out from the L1. The L2 is the second power supply into the switch and the HC would be the power supply out from the L2. This is the way the switch is designed and you would not need to switch wires to get the part to operate properly that the manufacturer has stated. Read More...
Paul July 31, 2019 for Model Number JennAir 20237 I replaced the infinite switches for both of the right-side heating elements on my JennAir range using part W11120791 (AP6278040). Now if both switches are on, if either switch is set to high than both elements will be on all the way. I had moved the wires to the new switches one by one (using the new HC terminal for the old H2) and since I noticed this issue I verified that the right side is wired just like the old switches on the left. But the symptom implies a wiring error. Furthermore, I have noticed that the H1 outputs go to a common connection to the elements and the HC (former H2) outputs go to the individual burners. Thinking about it, if the HC outputs should actually be common and the H1s should go to the individual elements that would explain my issue. So, has the design of Robertshaw infinite switches changed in the last 20 or so years, such that I need to reverse L!/H1 and L2/HC(H2) to match the wiring of my stove?
1 Answer Hello Paul, the manufacturer no longer supports this model, there are no wiring diagrams to reference. However on the older Jennair cooktops with the downdraft vent in the middle ,for the cooktop burner's infinite switch wiring the black wire L1supply connected to the switch's L1 terminal and was closed to H1 terminal anytime the switch was in any position other than "off" and H1 output went to a common wire linking the one side (right or left) front and rear burners . The red L2 supply connected to the switch's L2 terminal and cycled to terminal H2 with individual wires to the burners for the burners' temperature regulation. The replacement infinite switch w11120791 W11120791 is a correct substitute as per the manufacturer. Read More...

Arlene June 19, 2014 What Control Knob do I purchase that will fit onto the shaft of Infinite Switch 7403P402-60 (newly installed on my 13 year old Kenmore Range). It is a figure-eight shaft and my 13 year old 'D' control knob is no longer of use. (I need only one control knob.) Thank you in advance!
1 Answer Hello Arlene! I cross reference the part number you provided to locate a model number that uses a compatible switch and knob. Unfortunately like you probably already know, it's no longer available. However I did find part number 12200034, which is a set of 4 knobs that might work. They don't look the same but seem to have the off, high setting at the same location as your knob and are both for figure 8 shafts. Thanks! Read More...
Mel May 19, 2014 for Model Number RC8700EDB0 I have a RC8700EDB0 30" Electric Downdraft Cooktop. It's about 11 years old. Something popped and now the coocktop will not turn on, not even the fan. I do not see any fuses. Please help.
1 Answer Mel, Sorry, but there are no fuses or breakers in the cooktop wiring. Apparently, a switch, burner element, or wire has shorted to ground and has tripped the breaker in the breaker box. You'll need to check and reset the breakers, then determine which component(s) is shorted and repair the problem. Read More...
