Tim September 13, 2017 for Model Number MEDB880BW0 The dryer wouldn't turn on so I replaced the thermal fuse a couple of months ago and it worked fine. The same thing has now happened again. I also cleaned out everything and checked the vent line as well and nothing is blocked. What else could be causing the dryer to blow the thermal fuse every couple of months?
1 Answer Tim, The most likely cause for the issue with the thermal fuse blowing is a restricted duct but with the duct being clean would most likely be a cycling thermostat or thermistor which ever the unit will have. Yours would have a thermistor part number WP8577274. Read More...
Joe September 10, 2017 for Model Number GEW9200LW0 I have a Whirlpool duet dryer, a few weeks ago the clothes stopped drying so first thing I did was replace the thermal fuse. Then they still weren't drying so then I found out that the heating element wasn't going on and was broke so I replaced that and thought it would work fine then but still clothes were coming out damp. Lastly, I changed the moisture sensor bar and still the same results. The vent is clear, I went outside to see if the vent door was opening all the way while on and it is blowing hard. I was thinking to just buy the thermal kit and replace the thermostat and fuse again. Do you think that will solve the problem? Thanks. Joe
1 Answer Joe, The most likely cause for this issue would be a thermistor WP8577274 which will be locate on the blower housing. Read More...
Jamie Pancake June 27, 2017 for Model Number MDEB850YW0 Why does the thermal cut off kit for this dryer not have the harness connection on the new thermostat part. The old high limit thermostat part number is wp8557403and has two large terminals and a small harness with two small red wires that plug into it. The number on the new high limit is3391914? is it OK to leave the harness in question unplugged?
1 Answer Hello Jamie! Part number WP8557403 is your high limit thermistor and you'll have to order that separate. The manufacturer is offering your thermal cut off in a kit only but the the high limit thermostat included is not compatible with your unit. Hope this makes sense! Read More...
Jim June 01, 2017 for Model Number GEW9200LW0 I replaced the heating element. Dryer will run but still no heat. Do I need to replace the other 2 components attached to the heat vent assembly? I think it's a fuse and a thermostat....? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Jim. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Denise May 22, 2017 for Model Number GEW9250PW1 I am replacing the thermostat and thermal fuse - does it matter if the pink portion of the label on the thermostat is on top or bottom? I am wondering if there is a top and bottom to this when connecting the wires.
Jack March 20, 2017 for Model Number GEW9200LW1 Dryer would not heat. The thermal cutoff fuse toward the rear of the dryer was open at room temperature. I replaced it. After one load the second one failed. I replaced the second one. I bought a third one. It was continuous at room temperature but failed immediately. The heating element never got hot. I'm stumped.
1 Answer Jack, The first thing you will want to do is to check the venting of the unit and if this checks ok then you will want to check for a grounded heating element. Also check for any wires that would be damaged. Read More...

Teresa February 23, 2017 for Model Number Wed8300swo The dryer runs and heats for a few minutes then shuts off, starts again after a few minutes without promoting .There is a warning smell like a hot iron.the control board looks fine .The dryer was cleaned throughout, do you think the thermal cut off kit will fix the problem.the thermostat and shut sensors have continuity. Thanks hope you have an answer for me.
2 Answers Teresa, The thermal fuse would not be the issue with it because if the fuse was bad it would cause the unit to not start back up. This issue would most likely be an issue with the control board of the unit even if it looks good. Read More...

2 Answers Teresa, When you cleaned the dryer, did you notice a heavy build up of lint, on or in the motor ? An overheating motor will produce an odor similar to what you described. You'll also want to check and make sure you have 120 VAC into the motor relay(blue wire) and out to the motor (black wire) on the control board. Low voltage and/or loose connections can cause a motor to overheat and shut off on the overload protector inside the motor. Read More...
