Joy July 28, 2011 for Model Number gew9200lw0 (Whirlpool Duet Dryer) I replaced the heating element after testing. Dryer is heating but turns off/ends cycle resulting in wet clothing. Later on the dryer was stuck on sensing and wasn't working and I found out the thermal fuse blew so I replaced that. I cleaned out the lint screen, venting hose, inside the dryer as best I could. Now, I'm wondering if I should test/replace the Thermistor or the High Limit thermostat? I'm nervous that the motor is dying. I don't want to use several cycles to dry with few articles of clothing and make matters worse.
1 Answer HI Joy. Thank you for all the information. The blower housing has a thermistor that senses the temperature to the control board. This is the part #WP8577274. Double check the outside vent cap/ hood assembly while you are at it to make sure the vent cap operates normally. Turn off the breaker, unplug the unit. make sure your dryer cord screws are tight on the terminal block. Thank you. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Sakvan. The F40 code is for lost communication between the main board and the motor board. Check and make sure all wiring connections are good and tight. If so, you will need to replace the electronic control board WPW10111616. Hope this helps. Read More...
Maria July 02, 2011 for Model Number 110.70092991 My dryer will dry one load per day and then stops drying. I was thinking its the dryer thermister that need to be replaced. What do you think? Thanks Maria
1 Answer Hello Maria. You can test the thermister WP8577274 and see if it is bad. It should read around 10,000 ohms at room temperature. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Michele June 27, 2011 for Model Number 11095081401 My Kenmore Elite dryer reads "E1" on the screen. I believe the thermister went out. How hard is it to replace it?
1 Answer Hello Michele. Disconnect the power to the unit. To replace the thermister WP8577274, you will need to remove the toe panel of the machine. The thermister is located on top of the blower housing. You will disconnect the wires going to the thermister and remove the screws holding it in place. Reinstall in reverse order with the new thermister. Hope this helps. Read More...
Jarhead May 24, 2011 for Model Number WED5900SW0 What does the thermistor do? And is 12K at room temperature close enough to the 10K you mentioned earlier? I'm trying to find the cause of the thermal fuse blowing.
1 Answer Hello Jarhead. The thermister read temperature. If it is showing 12K, the temperature of the room should be around 72-75°. The thermister is testing ok. Test the temperature of the dryer when running and see if it cycles on and off. It should go from 110° to 155°. If it goes above 170°, the high limit may be bad WP3404153. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
