Hello S. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello J.F., You will need to make sure the freezer temperature is between -2°F and 10°F. If it is below these temperatures, the icemaker will have problems harvesting, extending the time between harvests. Everything else sounds normal.

Jim, Unfortunately the thermostat for the icemaker cannot be changed to one with a higher losing thermostat. There is not one that is available that is higher closing. Also the problem this would pose would be the icemaker cycling before the water is completely froze and causing the cubes to be hollow or not completely frozen. This would cause clumping of ice from water running out of the ice and causing the clumping.

Robert for Model Number WRX735SDBM00

My ice maker has recently stopped working. I have had the refrigerator for about a year and four months. It has always had water connected to it. The water supply is on and water dispenses as it should. The ice maker is turned on per the user manual. I have felt inside and it feels like there is ice in the mold. Periodically, I hear a fan kick on for about 1-2 seconds, then it shuts off. It sounds like it is coming from the ice maker area. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kurt, It'll be a little difficult, but doable. You'll need a short length(2 or 3 inches) of insulated 14 gauge wire, and strip both ends of the wire. Once you turn off the water supply, remove the white plastic front cover off the ice maker, and tape the freezer door switch down/closed. On the front of the mechanism plate at roughly the 4 and 5 o'clock position you'll see two openings labeled "T" and "H" insert the ends of the wire in the openings and hold it there until the rake arm starts to rotate, then remove the wire. The ice maker should cycle through to a complete cycle. You my want to repeat the test cycle again a few minutes later.
