Emcewen December 22, 2014 for Model Number KTRP21KJWH01 About every three months I get water pooling in the fridge and major ice build up under the bottom pan in the freezer. I have to disassemble the freezer unit down to the coils, break the ice, and squirt hot water into the drain tube until water flows into the plastic pan at the bottom of the unit. The heater seams to be working fine since there is no ice build up on the coils in the freezer. The fridge cycles off an on as it should and temps are good all around. I know I am going to start having problems when I can no longer here water dripping into the tray on the very bottom of the appliance during the (supposed) defrost cycle. Any input would be helpful and I can answer more questions if required. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello EMcEwen. Run a tube into the drain hole and clean it out. Something is blocking it causing it to freeze back over. Read More...
Jana S. September 29, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore Refrigerator Model#10655522400 My refrigerator has stopped cooling. Cleaned coils, checked fan is working. Unpluged overnight as freezer was freezing up. Plugged back in this morning freezer is slowly freezing ice. Refrigerator side was cold then has begun to to loose coldness all day. What part is bad? Thank you for your help
1 Answer Jana, It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Mario January 15, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool ST18HPXKQ02 My fridge occasionally will stop cooling and never cycle back on until i hit the control unit where the cold level dials are (this works most of the time). At other times it stays cooling for long periods of time to the point where my fridge is near freezing and the freezer is super cold. Could this be a bad thermostat or a defrost timer?

Rick December 05, 2013 for Model Number ET8FTEXMT01 Freezer temperature occasionally goes up to almost 30F. If I rotate the damper control (the temperature setting for the freezer) a little bit (up or down) the compressor runs and the freezer goes back down to about 0 F. A week later, it might suddenly jump up to 30F again. Ideas?
1 Answer Hello Rick. Based on the information you provided, the cold control needs to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Nettie October 30, 2013 for Model Number GT2SHMXLS00 My refrigerator just quit cooling in freezer and refrigerator. I am thinking that it is the thermostat (Whirlpool number 2200859). The compressor was running and operating fine. Are there other parts that might need to be checked before just replacing the thermostat? I did try to plug and unplug the refrigerator to see if it might just need to be reset. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. The manufacture date on this refrigerator is 05/2003. There is a possibility that it may not be worth trying to fix due to nearing life expectantcy. Thank you in advance for any information that you may have.
1 Answer Hello Nettie. If nothing is running, you will need to check the control and the defrost timer on the unit. Either can cause the fans and compressor not to work on the unit. Read More...
