Charles December 28, 2019 for Model Number ID5HHEXWS00 What explains why these trays ever get cracked? (Mine IS cracked, refrigerator never moved since original installation. I gather from other comments that this is not a rare issue.) Doesn't seem likely, since they are non-moving and not subjected to physical stress. A very weak plastic used in original manufacture? Annoying.
1 Answer Charles, All the components located in the compressor compartment, including the defrost drip pan are subjected to a wide range of high temperatures. Some "plastics" will react to the heat and can crack, split, etc. You may want to start moving the refrigerator out and check and clean the area of any dust or debris, remove the compartment cover and clean the dust and debris from the condenser, fan, and compressor, etc. to maintain the efficiency of the refrigeration process and reduce the heat inside the compartment. Jewel May 25, 2016 for Model Number MSD2272VEW00 I have water on the floor in front of the freezer. I think the evaporator drain tray is either cracked, or the drain is frozen and overflowing, or clogged. How do I remove the tray to empty and check if it is damaged? How can I tell if the drain is clogged or frozen? If I need to replace the tray, I believe part # AP6023392 is compatible. Is there a video available to show me how to do the above? If the tray is cracked I will order the replacement & also order one or two water filters. Thank you for your help!

Tony K March 30, 2014 for Model Number ED5RHAXNQ00 I cannot figure out how to remove the evaporator tray for cleaning. I tried removing the front grill as in past refrigerators I have had, but it is clearly blocked from removal from the front and back.
1 Answer Tony, The drip tray is does not have to be taken out to clean but if you want to clean it then you would access from the front. You will first need to pull the unit out and turn off the water supply. Once off you will remove the kickplate in the front and remove the filter housing. Once the filter housing has been completely removed you will be able to pull the drip tray out. Make sure that the tape on the front and back are removed as this will cause the pan to crack when pulling it out if it is not removed. Read More...
Bob March 18, 2014 for Model Number ED5VHEXTQ01 The water filter housing will not come out enough to clear the front so the drip pan can come out. How do I get it out to replace it? It is cracked leaking water onto the floor. The tubing connected to the water filter housing will not allow the housing to come out far enough.
1 Answer Hello Bob. You must reach in the small opening and release the lines from the housing to replace the housing on the unit. The lines will not pull all the way out the front of the unit. Read More...
Jeanette November 16, 2013 for Model Number ED5DHEXWB00 We are having to replace the evaporator tray in our whirlpool side be side (Part numberAp2935771). It is very difficult to remove and replace this tray because the water filter is in the way. Even when the filter housing is unscrewed from the anchor, it is still in the way. Replacing from the back of the refrigerator will not work either because there is copper tubing in the way. What is the best way to remove the old tray and replace with the new one?
1 Answer Hello Jeanette. No, these are not hard to replace. You remove the water filter housing from the front of the unit and the pan will slide out the front of the unit. Read More...
