Jason June 14, 2011 for Model Number GHW9150PWO After hearing loud knocking sounds during the spin cycle and burn't plastic in the strainer, I disassembled the tub and removed the basket to find the rear bracket to the shaft corroded and cracked. Looking at all this, I would have to replace the basket, front and rear tubs. Is it worth it? or should I go after Whirlpool for those limited warranty coverages on the basket and the tubs. Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.
1 Answer Hello Jason. Based on the information you provided, it does sound like the basket WPW10250573 and outer tubs W10772617 W10772612 will need to be replaced. Thanks. Read More...
Ed June 02, 2011 for Model Number ghw9100lw2 I have a bad bearing that appears to have chewed up the outer tub a little. It may not be cost effective though to replace both the rear outer tub to get the bearing and the front outer tub. If I replace the rear outer tub - can I clean up the edges of the front outer tub so no debris gets in the wash? Is that sufficient or does the front outer tub create a seal that is needed and needs to be replaced in all cases?
1 Answer Hello Ed. If the front tub does not have any holes in it and can be cleaned up with no burs, you can still use the old front tub assembly. Hope this helps. Read More...

Roger April 12, 2011 for Model Number GHW91OOLW1 My front tub assembly is chewed up but the inner tub spins fine,is it possible for the outer tub to wear out and not have a bearing problem on the rear tub bearing? Is there a way of checking the bearing? And also it looks like it takes a special tool to install the clamps that hold the front and rear tubs together do you sell that tool and if not where can I get one? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
1 Answer Hello Roger. You can remove the back access panel and see if the bearing has been leaking, or if it has play in it. If so, the tub assembly will need to be replaced. The clapms pull off and push on. You can use channel lock pliers to remove them and a small hammer to tap the down onto the tub. Be careful not to crack the tub. They do not make a special tool to install these. Hope this helps. Read More...
Guest April 05, 2011 for Model Number ghw9150pwo We get a knocking during spin cycle, the inner edge of the Outer Tub is chewed up. I saw your post saying the bearing may also be bad, but can't find it on the parts layout. Can you direct me to the right part? Thanks.

Jeremy March 16, 2011 Would the cause of the inner rim cracking right near the edge have to do something with the bearing? It only happens when it is on the spin cycle.
1 Answer Hello Jeremy. Check the spin basket and see if it is loose, rubbing the outer tub. If so, the bearing is bad. Hope this helps. Read More...
