Jeff March 25, 2013 for Model Number GHW9150PWO The front surrounding edge of the tub is damaged and flaking material into the wash. The spin cycle now spins out of round and makes loud noises. Can you tell me what part or parts I should be replacing? I have a picture if that will help confirm. The material coming off is probably plastic pieces smashed but appears like fiberglass.
1 Answer Jeff, You will need a new front tub due to the damage. Along with the front tub you will need to determine whether it is the spinner assembly or the bearings that is causing the inner tub to rub against the front tub. One way to determine this is by pulling up on the inner tub and see if it is moving around. You may have to rotate it and lift in several places to determine movement. If there is movement then the tube bearings are more than likely bad and would require outer rear tub. Read More...
Debbie March 19, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool GHW9100LQ1 The rubber thing that is on the outer front drum that keeps the water from leaking out the door is giving me problems letting water leak from the door. Is part #AP3773838 the one that will fix my issue? If I order and it is not the right one can I return? Thank you for your help. It is a Whirlpool washer GHW9100LQ1.
1 Answer Debbie, we have a 365 day no hassle return policy. You may return any part for any reason. If you are speaking of the large grey rubber seal between the tub and door you'll need to order part number WP8181850. An image is on our site to help verify this is the correct part needed. Thanks! Larry December 10, 2012 for Model Number GHW9100LQ I own a Whirlpool Elite Model GHW9100LQ. The Outer Tub Front has self destructed. What is the correct part number for this part? When I go to the page on your site and query whether MFG. number 285982 is correct. it says no, not the correct part. What then is the correct part#?
1 Answer Hello Larry, You would want to order the Outer tub Front W10772612 which is the correct front for your unit. You would also want to check the inner tub for movement up and down. If you have movement up and down then you may need the rear bearing which would be rear tub W10772618. You would also want to check the spinner assembly W10772618 for damage. Read More...

Scott B. July 05, 2012 for Model Number GHW9100LW1 I am going to replace the front outer tub on my washer, is it common or good practice to replace rear tub as well. Did not notice any unusual noise before the lip on the front tub shredded. Have already purchased new washer and dryer, will be replacing front tub and donating both units.
1 Answer Hello Scott, The only time the rear half of the tub is replaced is if the spin bearing or tub seal fails. The only other reason is a crack/leak. Even if you were keeping the unit for your personal use, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Read More...
Dan November 21, 2011 for Model Number GHW9100LW2 I have discovered the front outer tub part number AP3773838 has worn very badly and is no longer a true circle, hence the spin cycle is very noise and concenring. The washer is 6 years old. How can i receive details to replace the AP3773838 Outer Tub, Front on my own. Are step by step instructions with photos available? At 6 years old, does it make sense to replace this component? thank you for the help.

Rob November 02, 2011 for Model Number 11042822201 From what I've read and also noticed with my baskets shaft brackets deterioration and falling apart I've come to the conclusion that people are probably not using the correct detergent as told to do so in the washer manual. Is it possible to use the front tub section if the small rim that goes around the drum is rubbed away by the loose basket....The washer had no leaks inside or out but the front tub has been rubbed to the point that the rim is gone .... The bellows seal is still good and as I said no leaks..do you think I could still use the front tub assembly with this small rim missing?
1 Answer Hello Rob. No, I would replace the front tub assembly W10772612 as I am replacing the rear tub assembly W10772617. This will prevent the unit from developing a leak, where the tub has become weak from the damage to it. Hope this helps. Read More...
Bobby October 27, 2011 for Model Number WFW9750WW01 I need to replace the front of the outer tub on my Whirlpool washing machine. Is this difficult to do? Is this a common problem with front loading washers. I have only had this machine for 1 1/2 years.
1 Answer Bobby, First off, you have the wrong part number for the model number you supplied, for a WFW9750wwo1, the outer tub front would be, W10772613 (the front half of the outer tub). It is a bit involved, but a doable repair for a DIY'r, no special tools are required. here are some of the procedures you'll need to perform : Remove the top of the cabinet, and thre rear access panel and belt. 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Turn off the water supply to the washer. 3. Pull the washer away from the wall. 4. Remove the detergent dispenser assembly 5. Loosen the clamp and remove the main water feed tube from the detergent dispenser. 6. Pull the free end of the main water feed tube from the tub opening.7. Remove the eight hex-head screws from the front frame and remove the frame. 8. Remove the 1/2? bolts (3 each) from the front top and bottom tub weights, and remove the weights from the tub. 9. Rotate the support out of the way, and remove the three 1/2? bolts from the top rear weight, then remove the weight from the washer. 10. Remove the bellows from the tub 11. Using a shallow pan to catch the water, unscrew the filter from the drain pump, and drain the water from the pump.12. Loosen the clamp and remove the pump-to-tub hose from the drain pump.14. Loosen the clamp and remove the vent tube-to-tub end.15. Remove the basket drive pulley from the basket shaft 16. Remove the T-20 Torx screw from the ground wire that is connected to the bearing hub, and pull the wire out of the tub holes. 17. Disconnect the pressure hose from the pressure switch.18. Remove the drive motor from the tub 19. Remove the temperature sensor and heater from the tub . 20. Remove the four motor control unit wiring standoffs from the tub. Squeeze in on the standoff tabs to release the standoffs. 21. Remove the four shock absorbers from the tub. To remove a shock absorber: a) Remove the 11/16? (17 mm) mounting bolt and nut from the base. b) Using a pair of pliers, turn the top of the shock absorber 90° so that the locking tabs align with the slots in the tub, and remove the shock absorber.22. Remove the end of the vent tube from the tub. 23. To remove the tub and basket: a) Lift the tub and basket assembly and unhook the two suspension springs, then remove the assembly from the washer, and place it front-side down on a padded surface.b) Remove the flat nuts from the tub.c) Mark the edges of the tub clamps with a pencil to make it easier to reinstall later.d) Use a large flat-blade screwdriver and pry off the tub clamps.e) Use a large flat-blade screwdriver and pry the tub halves apart, then lift the rear half of the tub off the front half .f) Lift the basket from the front half of the tub. Mai L. October 20, 2011 for Model Number 110.42822201 Last weekend, I noticed that the washer sounded like a jackhammer during the spin cycle and had trouble draining. Snooped around today and found a junk - tiny plastic pieces - in the filter. Also noticed that the front end of the basket has dropped about an inch and the front outer tub was all chewed up. Ran a light load with front and top covers off. I heard a lot of rubbing and I could confirm that the noise was coming from the basket flopping around. I know I have to replace the front outer tub. Questions are 1. If the bearing is in the back, am I better off changing both front and back outers? 2. Do you think the basket needs to be replaced also? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Mai. Yes, based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the front tub W10772612 and the rear tub W10772617. The inner basket should be fine, unless it got damaged as well. You will need to remove it and inspect the basket. You will need to remove the entire tub assembly from the cabinet to replace the parts. Hope this helps. Read More...
