This OEM Replacement Part is a single water inlet valve designed for use in Whirlpool refrigerators. Its key function is to supply water to the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser. When energized, this valve releases water from the supply line into the ice mold. If the water valve develops a crack, it will need replacement. The valve accommodates two different sizes of tubing: the smaller inlet measures 1/4", and the larger inlet measures 5/16".

By maintaining the integrity of this component, users can ensure the proper functioning of the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser. Always consult your appliance manual for accurate installation and replacement guidelines. This part is compatible
with select brands including Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Kenmore, and Maytag.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18052605)

1 Answer

Hello Gerard, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. This might be an issue with the ice maker itself, wiring, or the control. If you have the tech sheet for the unit I would recommend running tests 44 and 45 to see if the ice maker will harvest and fill in diagnostics mode.

Hello Kevin, thank you for contacting APP, This may be an issue with the icemaker fill tube or the fill tube heater if the water is coming from the fill tube for the icemaker, neither of these components is serviceable without replacing the freezer door LW10728959. It is also possible that you are experiencing warm air intrusion due to an issue with the freezer door gasket W10355591, the Ice Chute W11573761, or the Ice Door W11130210 not sealing properly and there is condensation building up.

Jim for Model Number WRS571CIHZ01

I replaced my water inlet valve part number AP6017532. When I was watching the video I noticed the technician removed the white plastic cover off the installed part, however he did not put the water line back onto the valve. Then he put the back on and indicated he was done???? A little confused. Also there's another similiar part right behind the outer one. What is it for? Is one for water and the other ice? If so which is which and if one bad are they both bad.

Hello Jim, thank you for contacting APP, The video is just showing how to remove and install the Inlet Water Valve, it does not show the incoming source water line being disconnected or connected to the valve. The white piece that the technician took off was a protector cap to prevent anything from damaging the threads on the valve for the inlet source water connection during transit/shipping. The machine compartment cover you see being installed has an opening in it so that the incoming source water line to the unit can be connected to the valve without having to remove the machine compartment cover. The other valve you see behind the 1st is the Dual Valve WPW10341320 which sends water to either the water dispenser or the icemaker depending on which is calling for water. The Inlet Valve shown being replaced in the video is the valve that brings water into the unit. One way to determine if you have an Inlet Valve or a Dual Valve issue is to disconnect the unit from power, remove the Inlet valve and disconnect the water line going from it into the unit, place the valve so that it will put any water coming out of it into a bucket/bowl/other sufficient receptacle, reconnecting the unit to power, and calling for water at the dispenser. If the valve puts water in the receptacle then the Inlet Valve is working properly and you have a dual valve or other issue in the unit preventing the water from getting where it is supposed to. If the valve is humming or buzzing and not letting in water then the valve has failed. If the valve is not humming or buzzing then the windings in the solenoid have failed entirely or there is an issue preventing voltage from getting to it, which would require testing with a multimeter. If you are not getting water out of the inlet valve when calling for water but you can hear the valve humming/buzzing

Ddtrees, unfortunately, there appears to be two numbers missing from the end of the model number. If the model could be verified from the model/serial tag (first two digits from the serial number may be needed if there are not two numbers at the end of the model) and provided in a new question, this will allow the most accurate information to be presented.

Phil, Look under the front of the unit for the tech sheet. As for the voltage to the water valve. When the icemaker cycles there should be 120 vac to the icemaker side of the valve.and when the water dispenser is pressed there would be 120 Vac to the water side of the valve.

Scott, Thanks for the question!!! 1/4" is the most commonly used. However, I can not find any specs on the part. The line that runs from the valve to the icemaker is part number WPW10496649. Hope this helps.

Carlos, it would be recommended that the wires at the hinge of the door are inspected for any broken wires. If there are, they would need to be repaired. If not, then the failure would likely be in the main control WPW10743957 if none of the valves are receiving voltage when the dispenser is pressed or the ice maker is in a harvest cycle.

Wayne, it would be recommended that the water lines through the refrigerator are inspected for any of the residue that would have came out of the dispenser. If there is not a residue, then the water filter EDR1RXD1 would need to be changed as this may have been some of the charcoal escaping the filter. This can potentially happen if the filter is older and the charcoal is starting to break down. An older filter can cause water to drip through the dispenser as it does not allow pressure to properly be distributed.
