The Gas Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens and ranges. It regulates the flow of gas to the oven burner, ensuring safe and efficient operation by controlling the amount of gas released for ignition and maintaining a steady flame during cooking.

Causes of a bad gas valve can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to high temperatures, or damage from gas impurities.

Symptoms of a bad gas valve include:

  • The oven not heating or taking a long time to heat up
  • The smell of gas when the oven is turned on
  • Inconsistent or uneven heating
  • The oven failing to maintain the set temperature

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Gas Valve (Part Number: OEM18056706)

Marvin for Model Number Whirlpool GFG471LVS0

I am converting my Whirlpool GFG471LVS0 range from natural to lp gas. I purchased Gas Conversion Kit WPW10170516 which I thought would provide everything I need. However, there were no oven orifice hoods included with the kit. I removed my bake burner orifice hood (which is stamped #"49-56") and the oven burner orifice hood (which is stamped #53). Quests: 1) If I can use my #49-56 hood for lp gas how do I adjust it ? 2) How far open do I set the air shutter? and 3) Must I replace the #53 orifice hood with a "090" hood (P/N WPW10400498)? 4) How far open do I set that air shutter?

Marvin, For converting the oven you would tighten the orifices down to snug and open the air shutters all the way. You may need to adjust the air shutter to get proper flame but start in the full open position.

Rick for Model Number SF265LXTT0

Burners and all other functions work. Oven/broiler not working. No solenoids heard, no current to ignitors. No voltage to gas valve. Gas valve resistance is 195ohms on both bake and broil so good. 120 volts is always present from the control board P2-4, P2-1 to pulser board on the red and blue bake and broil wires, J1-6, J1-7. I assume this is not correct since there appears not to be any other control lines, and these lines should only be live when bake or broil is selected. If this is true then I assume the constant 120v on these lines has burnt something out on the pulser board so that both boards are now defective. Gas on/off switch on the valve is on.

Rick, If you are getting 120 vac with the oven in the off position then the oven control board would be the issue and the spark module would need to be replaced and the control board would need to be replaced.

Hootie, If there was nothing between the orange and red wires then this would be an issue with the gas valve on the unit.

Janet, You will want to check the oven safety valve from the bake to the center terminals for 216 ohms of resistance. If the resistance is correct then this will likely be caused by a faulty spark module or igniter.

Anjuli, If the igniter is working but flames only occur part of the time then this will most likely be a faulty oven safety valve.

John, The part numbers you would need are the orifices for right rear WPW10170506, left rear WPW10170508, left and right front WPW10170510. For the oven you will loosen the orifice approximately 2 1/2 turns and close the air shutters to about 3/4 of the way open.

Jerry, Normally a flame change would possibly be caused by a issue with the gas supply and whether there is debris in the lines that would cause this issue. The flame size would typically be changing when there is an issue of a regulator issue.

Hello Randolph. Make sure all your wiring is good and if so, then the issue, based on your testing, is going to be the control spark module WPW10331686.
