The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a crucial component responsible for controlling the flow of water into the washing machine tub during the fill cycles.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Washing machine not filling with water or filling slowly
  • Leaks or water drips around the valve or water supply connections
  • Improper water temperature mixing, resulting in incorrect wash temperatures
  • Error codes or warning lights related to water supply or fill issues

Causes of a faulty water inlet valve can include sediment buildup or obstructions within the valve, mechanical wear and tear, electrical malfunctions, or problems with the solenoid that controls the valve's operation.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washing machines.

Eric, The new water inlet valve WP2315576 may look and mount differently, but it is still electrically and mechanically the same. when thee ice maker module cycles and rotates to the 12 to 1 o'clock position contacts close and voltage is supplied to the valve solenoids, the solenoids energize the plunger lifts and water flows through the valve to the ice maker. Try this, disconnect the wires from the valve solenoid, and attach meter leads or a test light to the wires. Remove the ice maker front cover, use a short piece of 14 gauge, insulated wire with 1/2 to 3/4 inch insulation removed from both ends. insert one end of the wire into the opening labeled T and the other end into the opening labeled H, hold the wire there until the main front gear rotates to the 7 or 8 o'clock position, then remove the wire. Observe the meter or light, when the rake arm rotates to the 12 o'clock position, the meter should register 120 VAC or the test light should illuminate. If not check for loose connections and suspect the ice maker control module.

Darla, You will need to check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen but would most likely be a faulty water valve.

Hello Bill. There should be enough water to fill the tray. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
