The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a crucial component responsible for controlling the flow of water into the washing machine tub during the fill cycles.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Washing machine not filling with water or filling slowly
  • Leaks or water drips around the valve or water supply connections
  • Improper water temperature mixing, resulting in incorrect wash temperatures
  • Error codes or warning lights related to water supply or fill issues

Causes of a faulty water inlet valve can include sediment buildup or obstructions within the valve, mechanical wear and tear, electrical malfunctions, or problems with the solenoid that controls the valve's operation.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washing machines.

Allan, Yes it is very easy to replace the water valve. You would simply pull the unit out and remove the cover at the lower part of the unit. Remove the screws holding in the water valve and turn off water and disconnect the tubing.

Laura, If the mold of the icemaker is not deteriorating then the water valve would be the issue and would be part number WP2315576.

Tom for Model Number ED22ZRXXW01

I have a whirlpool fridge with a single ice dispenser. I am currently on the the third water valve in 6 weeks. They are all failing electronically. Measuring the voltage I am seeing 124.4 VAC, when calling for water. What I thought was weird is I am seeing anywhere between 2 to 12 vac on that circuit when it isn't calling for water. My question is two fold, will this low voltage in the off cycle cause the failures I am seeing, and what is the correct voltage during the off cycle?

1 Answer

Tom, With the water valve having failed several times within a few weeks then the issue would most likely be in the wiring of the unit or in the icemaker sending this extra voltage during the off cycle. The extra voltage could cause this issue.

Hello JJ. The new valve still has threads for the copper supply line. There is no need to cut it.

Hello 2txbolts. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Traci for Model Number Kenmore Coldspot Refrigerator 1069732613

Hello: We have a kenmore coldspot refridgerator with a top freezer and an ice maker, Model No. 106.9732613, Serial No: ED3116145. It appears to be leaking a lot of water from the ice maker and running down the sides into the fridge then filling underneath the crispers and running out and actually flooding unto the floor. Since the problem, we have turned off the water supply to the ice maker. With the amount of water, we thought that maybe the ice maker went into "Fill Mode" and just did not stop. Any suggestions on where to begin trouble shooting, bad water inlet valve? Thanking you in advance. Your company provides a wonderful service. Regards, Traci

Traci, The first thing that you will want to do is to check the drain cup to make sure that it is not clogged up. It may appear that the issue is coming from the icemaker but in the refrigerator compartment at the back wall there is a damper. Next to where the damper is there is a cup that if it gets clogged will cause the same type of issue. If the cup is clear and it is not coming from the drain when it goes into defrost then the issue will be caused by a faulty water valve. The water valve part number is WP2315576.
