The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a crucial component responsible for controlling the flow of water into the washing machine tub during the fill cycles.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Washing machine not filling with water or filling slowly
  • Leaks or water drips around the valve or water supply connections
  • Improper water temperature mixing, resulting in incorrect wash temperatures
  • Error codes or warning lights related to water supply or fill issues

Causes of a faulty water inlet valve can include sediment buildup or obstructions within the valve, mechanical wear and tear, electrical malfunctions, or problems with the solenoid that controls the valve's operation.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washing machines.

Tamy for Model Number KTRS21MRWH00

'97 Kitchenaid refrigerator, factory installed ice maker which was unused for last 13 yrs (no water line available), moved to new place that has water line, hooked it up, ice maker make 2 ice harvest & then water just kept flowing without stopping, replaced inlet valve however org #2182104 was given 2315576, I cut some of the tubing off that goes up the back so it would fit into new valve, when turned on, about 1 oz of water at each harvest gets dumped out onto the floor and nothing goes up the tube.

1 Answer

Hello Tammy. Check and see if the fill tube for the icemaker is frozen and clogged and causing the issue you are having with the unit. Also, make sure the lines are into the valve good.

Hello Sue, If the water valve isn't closing, it sounds like a water pressure problem. There must be enough water pressure to close the valve. Remove the water line from the water valve and place it in a bucket or plastic trash can. Turn on the water and see of the water pressure is sufficient. It should spray out like under pressure. If there is only a trickle to the valve, this is where your problem lies.

This is an icemaker on a Kenmore refrig model 1069751880. 1. I have in my hands a water inlet valve, your #2315576. On the bottom is spot to connect tubing. Is the yellow plug supposed to stay in or get pulled out in running tubing from water inlet value to the tube that goes thru back of refrig into the icemaker? 2. What size tubing goes from water inlet value to the tube that sticks into refrig? My current tubing connections do not match the screw nut that twists on.

1 Answer

Doug, The yellow plug would stay in the water valve as this is a compression fitting. The tubing size that this part takes is a 1/4 " tubing.

Hello Jeremy. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Mark, The water fill valve is usually an "open" or "closed" circuit, when you test across the solenoid terminals with the wires disconnected. A more positive test is voltage to the fill valve, from the ice maker. You'll need a 3 to 4 inch legth of insulated 14 guage wire, with both ends "stripped" Remove the ice maker control cover, attach the meter probes to the wires to the fill valve. Insert the ends of the "jumper wire into the "T" and "H" openings on the control module and hold them there until the large gear starts to rotate, then remove the jumper. When the rake arm reaches the 12 to 1 o'clock position, there should be 120 VAC across the wires to the fill valve for 7 to 10 seconds. If the voltage is present, you have a faulty fill valve, if not you'll need to check for a broken or damaged wire.

Mike for Model Number Whirlpool ET8CHMXKQ05

Our ice maker suddenly stopped making ice. Water was leaking from the outside connection where the water line enters the freezer. Turns out the water shoot was completely clogged with a plug of ice. I got the ice plug out of the shoot & the ice maker worked fine for 1/2 day. The shoot is clogged again with a new plug of ice. Could the water valve be oozing water into the shoot so that ice build up occurs until the line is completely clogged?

1 Answer

Hello Mike, Yes, it does sound as though you have a seeping water valve that would need to be replaced. The valve is not fully seating allowing a little water to pass through and cause the fill tube freezing issue.

Tommy for Model Number ET21DKXDB02

I need to replace water inlet valve #2182104 which was changed to #2315576. Due to my source water feed plastic hose leaking several months ago causing extensive damage to my hardwood floors I now have a flex stainless water sourse hose which is threaded. Part # 2315576 does not appear to accept a threaded source hose. Is there another part number I can order to connect my threaded sourse hose. I can't afford another water leak so I have to connect this threaded hose not the plastic connection shown. Any suggestions?

1 Answer

Hello Tommy, If you remove the blue rubber cap, you will see that the water valve WP2315576 has a metal threaded receptacle for a water supply line. There is no other part listed for this application.

Hello Tommy. You will need to bleed all the air from the lines from new filter. Run about 2 gallons of water through system to do this.

Charles, The first inclination would be a "seaping" icemaker fill valve WP2315576 based on your post description. We would also expect an issue with cubes in the bin are stuck together, or oversized cubes. If you had a clogged defrost drain , that would explain the water in the bottom of the freezer(floor) but not the water on the top shelf.
