The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the washer during fill cycles. A faulty valve assembly can cause issues such as abnormal sounds, reduced or no water flow, or leaks.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washer not filling or partially filling with water
  • Odd noises coming from the valve area during fill cycles
  • Water continuously running into the washer even when not in use
  • Leaks around or below the valve area

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral buildup restricting water flow, worn internal components allowing unintended water passage, or damage from fluctuations in water pressure over time.

Note: If hose clamps are rusted order 4 of WP285655.

This OEM part is compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM14787267)

Mjc for Model Number WTW6400SW3 whirlpool cabrio washer

My machine often stops with 12 minutes left showing UL code. I've repositioned items, but this happens again and again. Recently, when starting a load, you can hear machine spinning to weigh clothes, but no water goes in the tub. I ran all diagnostics and everything works fine during these tests. When I manually tested the valves, there is only a humming sound unless I specifically open hot or cold valves, then water flows through dispensers but not into the tub. Do I have more than one issue wrong with this machine?

Terry, If the water is running but the unit is not filling then you will want to make sure that the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the standpipe. If this is the case it would cause a siphoning of the water out of the unit.

Hello Aura. You need to check and see if the water is turned on coming to the unit. Sometimes, we forget to do this after replacing a valve. If the water is on, then check and see if there is power to the water valve. If there is no power, you will need to check the pressure switch on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Chris, There should be an additional code displayed( ie. F0-E2, F0-E4, etc.) The E code would help pin point the issue. As long as your water temperatures are correct, in the wash and rinse cycle, then check and make sure there are no kinks or clogs in the air tube from the control to the connector on the side of the tub. The F0-E5 code would indicate and issue with an off balanced load. You would want to check the wiring harness between the RPS sensor on the motor and the main control board for loose connections first, then replace the sensor WPW10178988 if all's OK.

Steve, There are 2 different diameter hoses that connect to the water valve. Each hose that comes off is formed to go to a certain spot and if it is the incorrect hose it would be either too short or too long. We do not have a diagram that shows where each hose would connect.

Hello Russ, You will have to get the water valve designed for your unit. The one you have will not operate properly and will even cause other issues besides a leak. If the impedance of the replacement part doesn't match the circuit, it will shoot the electronic control.
