Gerry February 18, 2012 for Model Number maytag A612 Thank You for the earlier answers. There is a damper attached securely and seems to be ok. I solved the problem be placing a 1/4 inch sheet of plywood under the unit and releveling it. I seems to be solid and not wobbling or moving around. Secondly, does anything need to be oiled or greased underneath as long as the front is off? It has been sitting in the same place for approximately 25 years. It had eaten up the floor. The plywood helped that. Thanks again, Gerry
1 Answer Gerry, Not really, After 25 years, I'd consider a new set of belts 12112425 and lubricating the motor carriage rollers with some "vaseline", Otherwise your doing fine. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Gerry S. February 05, 2012 for Model Number A612 When spinning, the washer has begun to vibrate moving the machine about. Leveling does not seem to help. I noticed that the agitator wobbles a little.with the filter removed, it appears to wobble. When I went to remove the screw at the bottom it fell out into the tub. It appears to be broken off from the part of the screw in the unit. Only less than a quarter inch with the head. I agitator may have worked loose over the years. How do you suggest getting the old out and replacing it. Could this be causing the vibration. I noticed my wife leaning on it to minimize the vibration. Please, Thank You. Gerry
1 Answer Hello Gerry. Here is what the screw should look like 22001423. It is around 1/2" in length. They are very short. You will need to check and see if the dampers 203956 are bad. If so, it will cause the problem you are having. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Ralph, depending on the production date of your washer, there are two(2) methods, the older units have a spring retainer clip on the inside of the gearcase, at the top of the housing. The newer units (series 22 or after) have a large white plastic clip WP22002340, that seats over the agitator ring and slips into a groove molded into the top of the outer case. it is visible once you remove the agitator.
