Dishwasher won't start or runs intermittently? A faulty door interlock switch prevents operation when the door latch fails. DIY repair in 20 minutes.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Melted door switch. Christopher K. • Greeneville , TN • February 03, 2024
The full story:
Dishwasher stopped running mid-cycle. When I first began troubleshooting I tried manually advancing the timer knob, and the machine would run. That led me to believe that the actual timer assembly was bad, so I replaced it. The dishwasher ran fine for a day, and then the same problem came back. This time, however, I also had to push in on the door to get it to run. I looked around online, and someone suggested that the door latch wasn't closing tightly enough. I adjusted the...

Dryer start button buzzed when turned dryer wouldn't start. David D. • Dallas , TX • December 20, 2020
Looked at the diagnostic help on Appliance Parts Pros.com and the start switch was the problem, but only 25% of the time, so I was a little concerned it may be a different problem. The switch was reasonably priced, so I ordered it and it arrived in two days!
It was very easy to follow the repair video, however, my GE Gas dryer had a lot of screws rather than 2 screws and tabs on the model in the video, so it took a little more time to open up. After turning off the gas and unplugging the...

Roper dryer stops working then heater runs in all cycles including no heat Eric L. • Hendersonville , TN • January 12, 2015
Background:
Roper Electric Dryer model REX6634RQ0 purchased new in early 2006 by my wife. Dryer use profile is low to moderate as it was used by only one person (working from home) from 2006 to late 2007 then moved and stored in a dry basement until mid 2009. Moved and used by primarily just two people (plus occasional children visits) from mid-2009 thru late 2011 with three moves involved with in that time. Then stored in a dry shipping container until moved again in 2013. The multiple...

Dryer flame would go out after a few minutes Robert B. • Eben Junction , MI • June 05, 2015
Purchased, Igniter Kit, Gas Valve Coil Kit, and as a precaution Thermal Fuse and Cutoff-Tml. Was pretty confident the problem was the gas valve coil, but figured that why not just replace the other items while I had the unit apart. Researching and utilizing this site certainly helped me out in figuring what the problem may be. Watched the instruction videos which were very detailed and helpful. The replacement and repair was not that difficult and the work was done rather quickly. Doing...

Broken timer knob worn out door switch Kurt H. • Quakertown , PA • January 01, 2016
The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum.
The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. Replacement required opening the top cover of the dryer and hinging it up. This...

The ge dryer would stop while in the process of drying Efren P. • Miami , FL • November 18, 2014
Replaced the inlet control thermis (thermostat) . Now it completes the cycle but clothes are not 100 % dry. I would add 15 minutes more and that helps.
FYI: you don't need to remove the drum, just remove the top cover and that will give you enough space to replace the sensor

It wouldn't heat James C. • Mooresville , NC • June 29, 2019
After I cleaned out the typical 1.5 pounds of lint from the vent, ( I do it every 2 months), I went searching for a solution. I found 6 possible causes on this site and purchased everything except a new burner; I wasn't going to go that far. Let the fun begin. Since my vacuum was still nearby, I thought I was ready for anything. Wrong. After I watched all the videos again for reassurance, I went in with screwdriver in hand and laptop nearby. I removed the top and looked inside. Don't be fooled,...

Ran for 5 to 7 seconds and stopped. Paul K. • Dayton , TX • November 04, 2017
I researched the issue on You tube and found out it could be either the "belt broke switch" or the Moisture sensor. A friend who was an appliance mechanic advised "since you have to take it all apart anyways, its best to replace the belt, spring, and Idler wheel" I bought the 5 item for $52. I watched the video on the AppliancePartsPros for changing out the belt and I replace all items on the list. Took 1 1/2 hrs and was fixed on restart!! * Wear gloves, the sheet metal is very sharp edges!*

Push start switch on ge dryer Michael S. • Carlsbad , CA • February 26, 2017
I was trying to troubleshot a problem I had with my GE dryer not starting. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com because they have excellent DYI videos on how to make repairs. I determined that the problem was in the push start switch. I ordered the switch online and it took 3 days to arrive. It took 5 minutes to replace the switch and the dryer works perfectly.

Dryer would not heat Ken B. • Wayne , NJ • November 22, 2016
I looked at online repair videos on how to fix a Maytag dryer. When I knew what parts I needed, I could not find any local supply stores for the part. It was late Friday afternoon when I ordered my parts on AppliancePartsPros.com It stated Standard delivery was two business days. So I expected my parts to arrive on Tuesday. To my great surprise, the parts arrived on SATURDAY. Totally shocked, but extremely pleased.

SOoooo my 10 year old clothes dryer stopped and like almost everyone else I just figured it's shot, burned up, gotta get a new one. Well, due to a few bumps in the road I cannot afford another problem. My 2 vehicles are not running and with one being in the shop for 3 weeks and not being able to afford a rental car anymore this dryer was another headache. Replaced control board. Did not need Control Thermistor in my case, but I'm keeping it as backup. Got the Drum Belt just in case it breaks on me since the dryer is aging.
To replace control board:
Disconnect power and pull dryer away from wall.
Take 2 black screws on the back off to remove the top lid.
Remove 2 screws on top that hold the control interface on.
Remove 2 screws on the bottom backside of the control.
