My 22 year old dryer just stopped getting hot Michael M. • Brunswick , GA • November 04, 2015
After 22 years my Kenmore (Whirlpool) dryer stopped getting hot.
So I went ahead and reviewed the videos and figured I could repair it myself. It should be noted that the only part that failed the Ohm test was the thermal fuse. However, I figured that since I have it apart, I might as well go ahead and replace the heating element and the cycling thermostat.
Here is a rundown of what I did and how long it took:
• Taking the back off and vacuum <1 minute
• Finding the components (from the...

First longer to dry then no heat in dryer Bobbie M. • King George , VA • October 06, 2017
I am not an electrician, just a housewife with limited funds and a desire to DIY. I used the provided videos for knowing how to replace everything except the heating element which I just guessed based on other reviews and seeing how the other parts worked. Our dryer is 11 years old Whirlpool Gold HE and I have only ever cleaned the lint tray. My husband replaced the belt about five years ago and he did clean out the inside of the dryer.
Started by ordering a thermal fuse because it was...

Flame to dry clothes would go out after about a minute and wouldn't reignite Wendell M. • Brown Deer , WI • June 19, 2014
I'm starting with a quick background on my dryer. About 18 months ago the belt on the dryer started slipping and squealing. I had a can of belt dressing spray so I popped the top open and sprayed the belt. It actually worked for about a year before it started squealing again. For the next 6 months I had to spray it more and more often. Then the clothes stopped drying. Obviously, at this point, I had to get off my lazy ass and fix the dryer. Searched my dryer's model number on the internet and...

Samsung dryer no heat otherwise everything else worked Richard J. • Mechanicsburg , PA • October 25, 2016
Watched video. Took dryer apart to get to heating element and sensors.
In process found alot of lint had escaped into inner dryer and had a thick coating
over heating element. I cleaned out most lint and pulled apart lint trap on front and
cleaned out as much accumulated lint as possible. I then removed the heating element
(very simple, three screws in a support bracket) and found it was broke in one spot.(wire -
element severed). I believe the heavy lint build up on elements caused lint to...

No heat Dan R. • Woodruff , SC • November 30, 2018
First ran the built-in diagnostic tests. Got error code indicating that the inlet thermistor was open. Removed lower access panel and did continuity checks on the inlet thermistor, thermal cutoff and heating element. Even doing these checks is very difficult on this model due to the location of these parts and the limited access through the so-called access panel. But was able to get an open reading on the heating element, so I knew that at least that part was faulty. Could not get a reliable...

Constant beeping no heat Amy N. • Pike Road , AL • March 27, 2018
My 12 year old Frigidaire stack on top dryer had been beeping distress messages in some unintelligible code for about a year when it completely stopped producing heat. It also had a long standing issue with delicate fabrics and thin straps or drawstrings getting caught in the drum. After using this site to troubleshoot and viewing the useful how-to videos, I ordered and replaced the heating element, thermal limiter, and felt seals. Based on others' stories, I decided to also replace the rear...

Old Whirlpool dryer model LE8650XWW0 would not heat purchase in 1993. Byron V. • Huntsville , AL • December 08, 2017
Since the dryer was 24 years old I opted to replace all the possible problem components, instead of just the bad one. The parts aren't that expensive and do to their age I figured it was worth it to avoid having to go back into the dryer in a few months. The repair was surprisingly easy and went pretty much as the video instruction AppliancePartPros provided with one exception. Because, my model was much older than that used in the video, I had a more difficult time replacing the Heating...

Dryer taking 2 3 drying cycles to dry my clothes William L. • Collierville , TN • February 03, 2015
After reading several stories online about what to replace to fix the issue with my dryer not completely drying my clothes I decided to purchase a heating assembly, a sensor and a thermistor. I am not sure which one of these three pieces corrected the issue, but my dryer is back to drying my clothes as it should. The Youtube video's are priceless in helping to find and replace the parts.

Our dryer didn't heat Larry L. • Poway , CA • November 10, 2014
Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits.
I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have.
I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,...

Dryer would not turn on Kathie R. • Burlington , WI • January 15, 2016
The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible.
Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem.
Next step was to...

Dryer was running but not heating Chris B. • Milton , FL • March 20, 2016
The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged. The video's of how to tear down a dryer were indispensable to this repair - along with APP's always having the right...
