I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. It didn't look like a difficult fix so I ordered four new hinges and four new receptacles, which arrived quickly. I found a video on YouTube that showed how to replace the hinges and it... Read more
Rubber grommet cushions and stabilizes the evaporator fan motor in your refrigerator. Replace if cracked, worn, or missing to reduce vibrations and noise.
My refrigerator's cooling fan was making a noise. It wasn't loud; in fact, it was barely discernible. However, it was just loud enough to annoy me. The fan blade was hitting the shroud every now and then, creating a subtle, yet annoying sound. I'd tried tightening all the screws back there, and it helped-for a while. The noise came back. After looking at the fan motor, I noticed the bushings; it occurred to me that they might be the culprit. And why not? They were the originals installed at the... Read more
Provides start and run voltage to the compressor. Replace if cracked, damaged, or failing. Installs near the compressor at the bottom of the unit.
We replaced the main circuit board and the LED started to work and the condenser fan worked, but all we had were relay clicking sounds, but no cooling. The compressor had become so hot trying to work when the main circuit board was amiss, that it had popped the over temperature sensor on its side. As some one point out, if you remove the PTC+OLP assembly with the capacitor on it, and shake it, you will hear a rattle inside---and that is bad. We ordered a second round of parts from... Read more
Interior light not working when door opens? This light switch controls refrigerator illumination. DIY-friendly install takes 30-45 minutes with video.
I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. Only had to remove the front screw with a 1/4" nut driver and that provided enough of a gap for me to plug in the switch. So the correct method to replace the light switch in a newer model refrigerator is as... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling or ice building up on evaporator coils? The defrost timer controls the defrost cycle. DIY-friendly, installs in 5 minutes.
We just had the Defrost Timer replaced less than 90 days ago. Called the appliance company who came to diagnose ($109) and it was the same part, (a $34 part). The part was warrantied, but not the service, which was $270. I saw them install the part in July... less than 5 minutes! The company told me that they bill not by time spent on labor, but according to the "national average" for that repair. They wouldn't give me the warrantied new part without doing the labor. I checked with... Read more
Freezer coils frozen over or fridge not cooling enough? This defrost timer controls the defrost cycle. DIYers report 30-minute repairs with video help.
After reviewing a number of testimonials and your videos from your APP.com site I determined my most likely problem was either the defrost heater, thermostat, timer or possibly all three. The real challenge now began. Getting to the specific parts with my specific model number was a real challenge. It was not as easy as removing the light guard and 5 screws since my model had two Track Cant Shelf vertical rails restricting the removal of the back panel. Also, these rails could not be removed... Freezer icing up or frost buildup? This defrost heater melts accumulated ice on evaporator coils. Moderately difficult repair requires panel removal.
Yes, a 49-yr old woman fixed this fridge all by herself! AppliancePartsPros was very helpful in the diagnosis of the problem, which I determined to likely be the result of defrost failure. There was a large amount of ice and frost coating the back of the freezer despite the inside temp being 42 degrees. My husband thought I was crazy to think it was a problem with ice when the temperature was warm, but I told him to trust me and I would attempt the repair. He just wanted to throw the old one... I have now replace the door closing cams on the refrigerator door and the freezer door of the side by side unit. Thanks for such great instructions. Read more
Refrigerator light not working or flickering? A faulty light socket often causes this. Simple plug-in repair with no tools required. Video guide available.
I researched the model and watched a YouTube video on the repair. I ordered the part. Two days later it arrived and I made the repair. I'm all thumbs in home repairs, but had it done in 5 minutes. My husband was surprised. Nice that I can take care of a few simple repairs around the house. Read more
Fridge not cooling but freezer works? Ice buildup on evaporator coils? This defrost thermostat regulates defrost cycles. Easy 5-15 minute DIY fix.
My GSS20IETD BB side-by-side refrigerator had been having the ice form into a single mass over a period of a week after cleaning it out. It actually kept breaking my ice maker auger and pushing the slide-in tray or shelf over the ice maker up breaking it also. Frost would form all over food after about a couple of weeks. The ice auger motor would freeze up and stop turning. The coils did not have frost on them when I was able to view them. I replaced the thermistors in the freezer, defrost the... Read more
Freezer icing up or fridge too warm? Your defrost heater melts frost on evaporator coils. DIYers report 10-30 minute installs with a screwdriver.
We saw that the ice cream in the freezer was soft and the main refrigerator section was not cold enough. Called for repair but soonest appointment was a full week away. So I spent the next few hours online learning how to diagnose and repair refrigerators. When I opened up the back of freezer compartment to access the evaporator coils, I found ice and frost totally blocking the cold air flow. Turns out the bottom one of the two heater bulbs (quartz heater bulbs) was bad, so both heater bulbs... Read more
Plastic cam riser that lifts and aligns the refrigerator door as it opens and closes. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing to restore smooth operation.
I determined that the cam riser had broken into two pieces. Finding the part was easy on the diagram on the website. It arrived less than 24 hours after it was ordered. Top hinge was removed and the door was placed on a set of horses. One bolt was removed from the bottom of the door, the pieces of the broken cam riser were removed and the new one installed. Door was replaced and top hinge rebolted. The door was off for about 5 minutes. I was very pleased with the service of Appliance Parts... Read more
Illuminates your refrigerator interior. Replace when burned out or flickering. Appliance-rated for durability. Verify wattage and base type match.
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks Read more
Replacement drawer slide assembly for refrigerator crisper and storage drawers. Needed when slides are cracked, broken, or won't glide smoothly.

Refrigerator not cooling or compressor overheating? The condenser fan motor circulates air through coils to dissipate heat. DIY repair in under 30 minutes.
I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of... Read more
Freezer not cooling or making buzzing noise? The evaporator fan blade circulates cold air. Easy DIY fix in under 5 minutes—simply pull off and press on.
I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. I stopped when the shaft protruded about 1/8" beyond the plastic ribs of the new fan blade, then installed the new retaining clamp ring with the... Read more
