Ice dispenser not working or coupling spins freely? This motor coupling connects the dispenser motor to the auger. 10-minute fix with channel lock pliers.
I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. Ice won't switch between crushed and cubed? The dispenser solenoid controls the crusher mechanism. Most DIYers replace it in 25-30 minutes with basic tools.
Although the solenoid I purchased did not fix the problem, nor the "mother electronic board", or the motor, my experience with Appliance Parts Pros has been excellent. The auger would not turn the dispenser because the screw threads were stripped. I could not re-thread it so I had to replace the entire motor assembly. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool.
