First Problem - WATER INLET VALVE - After having problems with ice maker not making ice, I troubleshot and replaced the water inlet valve. Video and instructions were excellent. Ice Door Kit, Control Bracket, and Ice Dispenser Guide were purchased. I followed two videos on replacing the parts. Unplugged refrigerator and removed access panel from back of fridge. Have had this panel off many times for dust removal. I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. Fix ice not dispensing or auger not turning issues. This coupler connects the motor to the ice bin auger. DIY-friendly repair, about 20 minutes.
The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above.
