Refrigerator not cooling or compressor won't start? A failed run capacitor prevents the compressor from running. DIY repair in 10-15 minutes with video guide.
In short - I replaced the evaporator fan motor and the evaporator fan blade. The Appliance Parts Pros website was extremely helpful to me. Here's how. 1. The site helped me identify that even though my Freezer says it's a Frigidaire, it's actually an Electrolux. 2. The site identified the potential screech causing parts. (I didn't take a chance, I bought all three) It was a worthwhile investment. My freezer is 20 years old so it deserved some help. 3. The site provided guidance videos (not... Read more
Rear support clip that holds the crisper cover shelf in place. Replace when broken, snapped, or cracked to restore stability to your crisper drawer area.
If you can't pull out the displacement pins on the crisper cover support clips that allow the wall to carry the weight of the cover, slides and drawer, you may need to push those pins in (they fall down the wall) to remove the clip. During the replacement of both front clips, I had one I could remove and one I had attempted to drill a tiny hole in to be able to pull the pin. Ultimately it did not work and needed to be simply pushed in. Do not worry, there is nothing below which the plastic... Read more

Illuminates your oven interior so you can monitor cooking without opening the door. Replace when burned out or dimming. Verify fit with your model number.
Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... Refrigerator making loud noises or not cooling? A worn evaporator fan blade often causes these issues. DIY-friendly repair typically takes 30 minutes.
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived... Read more
Fix a freezer that's too cold or refrigerator running warm. This air damper controls airflow between compartments. Moderate DIY repair (1-2 hours).
First, I paid for two-day shipping, but the part arrived the day after I ordered. Awesome service!! For reference, I am a 28-year-old female with little repair experience (though I'd consider myself pretty handy in general and able to figure out most things in life - not a damsel in distress.) This was a relatively easy fix once you figure out how to take down the motor housing, unsure of correct terminology, hard to find a diagram out there that provides a name for all of the parts, where the... Bracket that supports and aligns the ice dispenser door. Replace if broken, cracked, or causing the ice door to hang open or fail to seal properly.
I wasn't sure if it was the door being warped, the spring return being worn, or the rotary damper failing, so I ordered all to update the door mechanism. I also ordered a new micro switch since one of the switches had started to require more and more pressure to actuate. Figured I'd fix it at the same time. Repair was very straightforward and the videos available on this and other repair sites were very helpful. I found a video that showed replacing the door mechanism on a nearly identical... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling but freezer works? A failed evaporator fan motor stops cold air circulation. This DIY repair takes 10-15 minutes with basic tools.
I paid to have a repairman diagnose the problem, HOWEVER, after submitting a quote for repair I knew that it was a ripoff to take advantage of us. He said the prices for the part and labor was given to him by his company. The part (evaporator fan motor) cost me under 40.00 from AppliancePartsPro, yet they wanted 90.00 for it. The labor charge they quoted was 190.00 to install the fan motor, yet after googling the day to install it, it took 10 minutes, had to remove 6 screws and unplug the... Read more
Refrigerator not cooling properly? A damaged condenser fan blade prevents airflow over the condenser coils. Quick DIY fix—simply push into place.
I originally ordered the Fan motor from a appliance dealer. I waited for 5 days for it to arrive. In the meantime I scavenge a motor from a junk refrigerator from the dump. It worked while I waited for the motor from the appliance dealer. When I picked it up 5 days later it was the "wrong" part. I was fuming mad. I went online and found you guys and ordered the correct parts in 5 minutes. It arrived in 1 day and a half, "COOL" ! The repair went quick and smooth and now the refrigerator runs... Read more

Fixes incorrect temperature readings and short cycling. This thermistor monitors fridge temps and signals the control board. Moderate DIY repair.
Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. Panel has codes on it (S or 5 E CE, later that changes to S or 5 Y CE). Research of codes says replace main board and control board. Not sure where this main board is. 22 Sep call appliance repair. Refrigerator warm while freezer works? Thermistor assembly monitors temperature and signals the control board. Common fix for temperature control issues.
I replaced the damper and thermistor assemblies. I saw another story here that was just like mine. Damper door was shut and would not open. I opened it manually then it would close and not reopen when reinstalled. I replaced the suggested parts and all was good. All in all a simple do it yourself repair to save hundreds. Read more
Rubber seal for the ice dispenser door on side-by-side refrigerators. Replaces cracked, worn, or missing seals that allow warm air into the freezer.
Freezer frosting over or not cooling properly? A failed defrost heater won't melt ice from evaporator coils. Test for 18-35 ohms resistance to diagnose.
Got the six year old refrigerator from my daughter because of it freezing up but was in good ( Stainless Steel) shape to replace our 21 year old Kitchen Aid. The thermistor had been replaced as a cheap first step but didn't correct the problem as it totally froze over within five days. I decided to tear down again and check the defrost heater element which was found to have an open circuit and hence the replacement part. Thanks to AAP, I ordered the part at the weekend, was shipped on Monday... Read more
