The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. I researched the problem and determined that the only thing that can cause this was compressor bad or not starting. Since it was cold the day before I felt it had to be the starter parts and ordered them. It was also very important to clean the coil which I believe caused the over heating. Read more
This replacement part is a snack pan slide rail, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. Ordered the parts and in a couple of days they arrived. A simple Philips screw driver was all that was needed to complete the install. Very simple, not complicated. Removed the light cover, put in led appliance light bulbs, placed the new cover over it. Read more
Swapped it out for new tube. Take 5 minutes and zero effort. The drain tube will clog with mold. You can clean it out but the tube will clog again despite's you best efforts as the tube wall provide a great habitat. Ordered new tubes to facilitate swap-outs. Old tubes can be cleaned but will recolonize quickly. Read more
