Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Sometimes the washer wouldn't start the wash cycle when the fill cycle was done it would just sit until the lid was picked up or bumped   Eugene N. • Roswell , NM • August 28, 2016

The lid shut-off switch is located behind the lid How About That. I order the plastic ball the hold the lid in place plus the lid shut off switch. I watched the video that AppliancePartsPros.com has on how to replace the lid and the plastic balls. I removed the lid to get to the two philips head screws to remove that part of the shut-off switch. I took the new switch out of the package and compared it to the old switch. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The door boot seal was old and mildued   Igno F. • Scotts Valley , CA • July 27, 2014

I followed the very well made repair video for this particular part. The total time it took for the repair was under 20 minutes. But I have a suggestion for the repair video and that is to emphasize that when reinstalling boot. Have the tachnician point out that there are drain holes in the boot that need to be situated and reattached toward the bottom of the washer chassis. Unfortunately I had to redue and double the repair time because the wash water would not drain properly during wash... Read more

Checked thermal fuse, belt pulley switch, door switch, and motor windings (primary 2.3 ohms start 2,2 ohms). Called Appliance Pros, told them my problem. They said that it appears to be the motor even though the ohm readings seam Ok and that I could return the motor if it was not the problem. I ordred the motor and blower wheel. Did lots of internet research. Narrowed problem down to three things - door lock latch, control unit, and motor control unit. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer not heating properly   Hashem N. • Los Angelos , CA • October 26, 2014

This Maytag dryer was bought in 1985 if memory serves. It has worked hard with few repairs done by yours truly over the years. Thanks to the engineering and excellent design by Maytag staff, removing parts are relatively easy. Once I opened the unit, I found it to be full of lint. I cleaned the entire inside and the vent pipe duct work. I found the blower wheel assembly worn.
