Fridge making clicking sounds and not cooling? A faulty compressor start device causes repeated clicks and cooling failure. Simple DIY repair.
I did some research online to pinpoint what the clicking noise was - discovered it was the relay switch. Very simple repair - after I removed the back panel on fridge I located the relay mounted on side of the compressor. It came off easily. Ordered my part at 4pm and it was delivered to me by 11am the next day. Installed the new relay, plugged the fridge back in and BINGO - it worked :). Replaced the motor, however not the easiest to do with the older refrigerators. First I had to remove the shelf that hold the ice bin. There is a small screw midway underneath the tray.
