The Pilot Indicator Light is an OEM part for GE ranges. It indicates whether an element on the range is active and hot, providing a safety feature that alerts users to potentially dangerous heat levels.
Common causes of a bad pilot indicator light include electrical failures, wear and tear from frequent use, or physical damage to the light or its housing. A malfunctioning indicator light can lead to difficulty in determining whether the appliance is on, which could pose safety risks.
Symptoms of a bad pilot indicator light include:
- The light fails to illuminate when an element is turned on.
- The light remains on, indicating an element is hot when it is not.
- Flickering or erratic behavior of the indicator light.
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Light went out for child lock on ge cooktop James B. • Fredonia , NY • October 11, 2014
Took top apart to find out that the problem was just the lens for the light was broken. Come to find out that the lens is what holds the light in place. When the lens broke the light fell down into the base of the cooktop. I bought a light and lens but for the price I could not go wrong. I cannot believe how fast and easy my order was handled!!
