Found that by manually spinning agitator one direction it seemed free, but spinning counterclockwise it seemed to stick a little. Pulled dispenser and agitator and found the agitator washer hole was oval rather than round. Replaced the agitator washer and the washer seems to sound normally for now. Not sure if the new agitator washer will eventually grind down due to non-circular action from the transmission, or if the agitator and clip will keep the transmission centered long term. Should... I started by replacing the lid switch without the desired result. So I decided to replace the timer unit. It works like a new machine at the moment. At least on the first trial load. More loads will convince me that it is fixed for sure. I cannot be more complimentary about Appliance Parts Pros as I live very remotely in West Texas. In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin. My first intuition was that the coupler failed again because I bought a cheaper one elsewhere a couple of years ago and not the brand name available here at AppliancePartsPros. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. My Kenmore washer had three problems and thanks to AppliancePartsPros.com videos I was able to repair all three. The washer coupler was defective so I replaced it. This topok about 30 minutes. The washer lid switch was defective. This took about an hour. Finally, the motor was defective. I was able to disconnect the motor from the transmission and test the motor by leaving the wiring connected and run a wash cycle. The motor was dead.
